Want to know how the win hv #5 pattern in the 10 ga.  I pay 22$ a box locally still cheaper than ordin off the internet. In my 1 2ga they put 150 in a 10" at 40 yds.

Never used the Winchester #5's  out of my sp10 , I did use the Nitro H20213 in straight #5's hevishot  I would get 170-180 with those out of a tighter 685 choke -

I used to use the  3 ounce lead nitro loads in nickel #5 and shot around 160-170, if memory serves me well , it was a slower fps load than the other loads mentioned

What's the benefit of 3 oz load if ut only put 170 in a 10" at 40 yards . How's it do in a 30" ? I pattern some magnumblend in 12 ga 3" it only put 150-160 in a 10" at 40 yards and poi was 3 feet low my 10 ga always hit poi.  So I like finding good 10 loads ..wish winchester made the xtended range in 10 ga.

Exactly , there is no use shooting the heavy recoil 3 ounce loads if you can go to a lighter recoil 2 1/4 load that shoots tighter , faster  and penetrates deeper due to the improved pelet material

I was shooting those 3 ounce #5's in the late 1990's only copper plated an nickel loads were available through Nitro , until a few years later
