Florida's season will wrap up this Sunday.  I hope all that harvested did check in their birds.  Be nice to know how many are actually killed.  The previous totals were no more than a wild guess.  Good luck to those hunting this weekend.  In our area they finally started gobbling last week.  My alarm set for 3:30am.  One down one to go. :OGturkeyhead:

Good luck Mr. Joey, have a safe and successful hunt!  :anim_25:

I will be giving it a hard try. I've been really struggling this year from super dry conditions, having other people walk-in or drive in on me, and less than normal vocal birds. Then making bad decisions and being more aggressive to the one and only gobbling bird I found. Really has me considering buying a Ga license to extend my season out a touch to see if I can redeem myself. Good luck to everyone giving it one last shot!

Good luck and hope they keep up the early morning noise!

And for Hunter85 - good choice on extending your season and for other game as well!!

#4
Ended a really weird year yesterday with the big birds winning the last round.  After finally tagging one on 4/15 and then returning 4/20 to gobbling in an area they notoriously roost only to hear them fly down and walk off the opposite direction.  I decided to arrive very early yesterday and set up close and wait.  Did no calling a first, just sat and listened.  Zero - they weren't there.  I changed locations several times and cold called never hearing the first gobble.  I did bring in two hens that have been very responsive.  Good to see them.  I'm sure the cameras we run will show a few walking around in the mid afternoon as usual.   By noon yesterday the 3am alarm was catching up with me, the temp was approaching 90, and I decided to let them win this round.  Fun stuff.  Good luck to anyone hunting this morning.  Last day birds can be special.

That 3 AM alarm catches up with all of us sooner or later.
It's nice to get a bird or two but in the end its about the memories we make along the way.
For me..... Every year is a good year, just some are better than others!

Yes.  In the old days I would have gone to Church Saturday evening so I could be out there this morning.  Alarms going off at 3am two days in a row are no longer an option.  LOL.

you must be in my area. That's what I do, I have a lease in Ga and hit some of the public land. In Florida I hunt Osceola WMA. I live 5 minutes from 4 Creeks, but it's a quota permit only.

I am south of you in central Florida. Yesterday's hunt resulted in nothing for me did drive up on two hens in the middle of one of the main grades acting weird running back and forth across the road, once I got close I could tell what they were doing trying to round up like 20+ Poults. Ga will be nothing but public land hunting.

Yeah I've seen em here already too (south Ga).
