What proof out there, besides one fame seeking biologist
that wants to prove his theory is right, that says disrupting the breeding process in the early part of the season is a major factor in the turkeys decline? Matter of fact look at the states that have pushed their seasons back? Are u seeing this great rebound in populations? Nope. Its all about predators not some theory about dominant birds getting killed to early.
Only states I know of is AL and TN and they just did it.
Not saying that's only reason but it has some effects

So what's difference in AL? That you were saying is great vs MS? AL pushed their season back

Our neighbors to the west have been pushing their season back for awhile and look what has taken place there. Well  Banning the use of male decoys the first 10 days was huge and needs to be for the while season.

Male decoys generally aren't used on public land.
It's more about limiting hunter numbers by pushing MS season to open same as surrounding states.

Once again, what's different with AL change that you are posting is great vs changing MS season dates??

Its in ur reply dude. Ban of male decoys is what im praising. Needs to be the whole season. And don't kid urself ive seen way to many people lugging around strutter dekes on public land.

Right.

I'm guessing you are not a MS resident. Since I asked several times with no answer.
AL pushed their season back. Limiting only male decoys is only going to save birds from bad hunters for 10 days.  I doubt this will have little if no effect especially on public land.

My opinion MS should limit all out of state hunters to a certain number of tags on a draw system or archery only tags. South Dakota did this and has had great success
Otherwise the MSDWFP should push opener back to be same dates as AL TN LA or close

This past spring, Mississippi started limiting non-residents the first 2 weeks of the season on public land through a draw system. Alabama could have did something similar, but instead chose to take away opportunity from all by pushing most public land openers back to April 1.

Yes. I am aware of this for last season Assuming everyone plays by the rules.
From what I understand this is about like the mandatory harvest reporting.
There are some that do. And apparently a lot that don't.
