Striker Recommendations

I have read on several posts that different strikers can produce entirely different results on the same pot calls. This season I met a hunter at the check station who had a couple of custom strikers and I got to hear the differences they can make. (He wrote down the name of the call maker but somehow I misplaced it.) Now that I am interested in buying some, I have been a little overwhelmed with all the different woods, laminates, and other materials and styles. Since you can't run every striker that catches your eye on your favorite pots and I can't afford to buy a handful just for trial and error selection...I need some recommendations on custom strikers for slate, glass, and crystal pot calls.

Thanks,

GunRunner

Well this is the strikers that I like.... I have some persimmon strikers from Glen Marrer {fingerlakescustomcalls} that are my personal favorite on slate..... they play pretty darn good on glass and crystal as well... also from Glen I have osage, bubinga, and canarywood which sound fine also..many more from him but those our my favorites... Neal on OG here makes some mighty fine strikers as well I have a padauk and cocobolo from him that sound great and I need more from him ;D  I have a cocobolo with a ivory tipped striker that plays very well on glass and crystal...There are many call makers on here that make strikers as well ... gobblerstopper, lightsoutcalls both make fine strikers... punch up midwestturkeycalls and you can look at quite a few strikers they have for sale online and through their catalogs... jerry{DAD}white has some very fine strikers... I like straight ones the best but a little flare isnt to bad either..I am sure more will chime in... also the same kind of wood in a striker may sound different from two different call makers, I also prefer one piece strikers

You will never go wrong with Purple heart or Osage Orange as a striker for glass, slate, crystal, and depending on the call aluminum.  I personally have found that both of those woods are not that great for copper.  For copper I have a pecan striker.

Ive got about 8 or so from harold over the years. I like his because of their balance. they play well for me with the grip I use.

I like hickory, mascar ebony, purple heart, apitung the best. Hickory on slate, ebony and apitung on glass and crystal, purple heart on aluminum.

Wendell at lightsoutcustomcalls has outstanding diamond wood strikers.
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands, love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper; his hands remember the rifle.

Silvers strikers are the best I've used.   Can get them from Midwest Turkey.

West Augusta strikers are about as good as they get. Very unique design and great sound on all surfaces.
