Here's a question ive never thought about untill now. Yesterdy I witnessed 4 ( i think ) 2 years olds that were gobbling on the roost come out of the trees and immediately start fighting.  I had made one or two light calls to the closest one while still on the roost so I know they were coming to me and I feel like it was a free for all of who gets there first.  Craziest thing I ever witnessed . they were beating the heck out of each other. Any way My question is did these guys go to the roost fighting and come down to resume or were they good buddys and the girl (me) caused them to loose their minds? Anyway one of em rode home with me .

Dr Juice

Congrats. I suspect they were buds.  'She' got their hormones stirred up and ready for battle. Share some pics when you get a chance.

Could be that there was a boss gobbler that had all the hens that is now dead , so now the 2 year olds that where just being satellites, or now fighting for the breeding rights.

Turkeys are never buds they just hang out together.

Friends until one gets a chance to smack his buddy or spur him.

It's always amazing to me to watch a bird immediately jump on his "buddy" as soon as he goes down. A death flop will sometimes get fringe gobblers to come in and trounce his dead buddy

Just curious, did it seem to be a free for all, 2 on 2 or more like a 3 on 1?  And congrats on the gobbler.

good question .. i felt like it was a free for all.. but if I had it to do over i would pay more attention to that .. I do know the the first one i heard gobble was very close (80 yards) while the other 3 were inside 150 yards.. the closest one I saw fly down.  I was waiting for a shot on him when all hell broke loose .
