THE AMERICAN WILD TURKEY SOCIETY. I believe ,I joined in 1995. I really looked forward to getting the 6 or so yearly publications.  They had really good articles  and Guest Writers that covered everything. I liked it much better then the NWTF Mag which was much bigger .
The President- Mike Pinger is an excellent  Writer. I will never forget how he tried liked Hell to find out who was Baiting and killing Tennessee  Gobblers, I  believe  in his area just as the Turkey Population  was taking off in that area.
Mike Pinger found those 2 Bait/ Poachers too! The Man has alot of Courage! I believe  the Deep Woods Baiting ended after that.
I gifted Mike Pinger with a Few of my Turkey Books and,I  got in the Mail in return- THE CUTTER SUPREME.  A Frosted Glass over Slate.  I am going g to take that call out again this Spring.
So-- who here Remembers  the - AMERICAN  WILD TURKEY SOCIETY?  Are they still around minus the Publications?

I joined up right when AWTS was started, I believe.  Seems to me that was way back in the 1980's or thereabouts.  I am pretty sure I still have the original cap and decals they sent out with the membership.  For a while I was getting a newsletter and magazine, as I recall, but after a couple of years, I never received anything else so I just figured they had gone belly up.  Had no idea they were still around in the 90's.

Turkeyman62,I  have also a Ernest Cotton Memorial  Box Call. Stamped on the Top is - American Wild Turkey Society- Series- 2001.- Ernest Cotton Memorial- 1921- 2000. Hand Crafted by Ernest Cotton + Gary Daniel- #19 of 25. Real nice Lynch type Tone- but a notch sharper. Think, I  paid 50 Bucks for this Box back in 2001.
