Daily Devotional & Prayer Requests / Be contentLast post by misfire - January 22, 2026, 01:52:45 PM"If you have food and covering, with these we shall be content." 1 Timothy 6:8 Regardless of the state of our economy, somehow, we still find the need to have more "things." But in our rush to acquire wealth and possessions, do we ever stop to ask ourselves when enough is enough? God's Word tells us that when God meets all the basic necessities of life, satisfaction should follow. And that should be enough - although it is often much easier said than accepted. The apostle Paul says, "Not that I speak from want; for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need" (my paraphrase of Philippians 4:11-12a.) Paul got it. He could be content with little. He could be content with much. Let's learn to follow his example. Because material "things" will come and go, but a relationship with God through Jesus Christ is eternal. Ask God for help aligning your priorities. When you focus on your relationship with God, contentment is one of the many by-products. Let's be thankful for all of God's many blessings and realize when enough is enough! |
