Just for grins, Jeff, and to kick up a little interesting pre-season discussion! What say you guys, particularly those of you that have more than one of Jeff`s strikers?
Personally, I`m REALLY liking his tulipwood on my CM and Enticer call.
What a tough question! If we are talking one striker across all surfaces it's either heavy hickory or frogwood. If we can be specific as to surface then:
Slate=Hormigo
Glass=macasser/spalted sycamore top
Ceramic=snakewood
Aluminum=snakewood
But I'm gonna run whatever the bird likes on a given day.

Frogwood or Granadillo

of mine. Pecan.
Good all around s- heavy hickory and pernambuco
Slate- hvy hickory
Ceramic- snake
Aluminum-katalox
I really like Frogwood on just about everything.
Jeff's black and white ebony is hard to beat!

Pernambuco is great on glass, slate (black and red that I know of) and aluminum that I've tried, but I'd never go anywhere without a Katalox striker for black slate. It really does depend on the sound you like though.
Can I play???
I may be a little biased.
Slate- Heavy Hickory
Glass- Pernambuco or Amazon Rosewood
Crystal- Hormigo it Amazon Rosewood
Aluminum- Frogwood or Pink Ivory
If your talking one striker, my favorite and by far the best striker I ever had the pleasure to put my hands on that works on every surface is a Spalted Sycamore top with a Macassar Ebony peg. Just an awsome, very versitle striker. I like it so much I added a back up.
Really like the frogwood and pink ivory. But my favorite dymondwood
Katalox then Frogwood
Macassar Ebony for me on glass/crystal. Slate heavy hickory or heavy cedar.
Frogwood is plain dirty....

I would love to hear from you Jeff! Slate? Glass and Crystal? Copper? Ceramic?

Same. Would love to know which ones you like best for those surfaces.

They are all good but if I had to pick;
Slate: Persimmon
Glass/Crystal: Hormigo
Ceramic: Pernambuco
Aluminum: Snakewood
With all that being said a heavy cedar for soft calling on slate is unbeatable.

I can't add anything it's all been said! Jeff thanks for a great set of strikers

I completely forgot about heavy Nicaraguan rosewood, pernambuco and grenadillo! Oh, and tulipwood, bolivian rosewood, and persimmon. And....

His jatoba is a good well rounded striker.
My "favorites" change quite often....but ones that i find myslf partial to are...
And I have to say I'm not trying to "sell" anything.
Frogwood is just damn impressive...
Slate...heavy hickory, heavy Nicaraguan rose, heavy canarywood ...and sucupira.
Glass...Honduras rose, pernambuco, cocobolo, granadillo
Metals...katalox, Amazon rose, patagonian rose.
And honorable mention...snakewood, B&W ebony, hormigo
Jeff just sent me 2 strikers the heavy hickory and the B W Ebony both ran bout every thing I put them to Realy liked that b w on the copper

You don't have to try. We know your strikers are top notch!!! Keep at it.
Y'all keep bragging on frogwood..guess I'm going to get one and try it out..probably a heavy hickory..I appreciate all the good responses. Now if I could make my mind up on one more..

Frogwood for me gives a nice front end with just the right amount of rasp in the back. I don't like a ton of rasp

Digging my Frogwood the most.
His Black locust is a runner as well
Sucupira and pernambuco are my favorites.
Just got these in the mail from Jeff last night.
Left to Right
Heavy Hickory, Bloodwood, Frogwood, Macassar Ebony
Only had a minute this morning to run them on a Dawkins pot. Going to mess with them more through the week. Season starts for me this Saturday.
Can't attach the picture it says the file is to large. Sorry about that, but needless to say they are all nice
Figured out how to post pics these are the strikers I received from Jeff on Monday

I'd like to add I really like his weighted Cedar as a nice switch up. It tones down any surface I've played it on and has a nice clean two note sound. If I'm hunting hard hunted birds I'll sometimes opt for a clean sound since most hunters use nothing but rasp.

I also do not hesitate reaching for Jeff's weighted cedar. His hvy cedar and hickory were the first two strikers I received from Jeff in early 2019. They both still see a lot of playing time even though the flock has been slowly expanding.
My favorite was granadillo but i recently got a frogwood from a member here and it just may be my new favorite. I liked the frogwood so much that i ordered another one today.
If I could only take one striker in the woods, it would be FROGWOOD hands down !!!
I only have 3 Grandadillo, Purple Heart, and heavy hickory. It seems I reach for the Grandadillo the most often. I am going to have to try frog wood
I like his tulipwood and frogwood the best, but they all sound really good, great finish on them.
I only have 2 of his strikers frog wood and Nicaraguan rosewood , i see myself using the N Rosewood the most.
Frogwood is a good choice. Paired with a Chad Remenaric Padauk green slate got it done. Nice work fellas!

Looks like they are soooooold out!
A dymondwood just arrived today from Jeff. I have a new favorite.
This striker is as good as dymondwood gets.
Desert ironwood top with blue mahoe shaft. This sucker makes every pot and trough I have sing. The bite and rollover is pure turkey.
I got a black and white ebony that ran on any glass or crystal I own, makes them absolutely scream but yet you can pull it down. It is a keeper for me. Wife may sale it when I die, but it's staying in my vest for now
I have a cedar that works perfect with my slate call .
Another vote for heavy cedar.
These are some of my favorites. Carbon, Frogwood, Heavy Hickory, and Granadillo

I have a handful from Jeff and the frogwood is my go-to. works well with most calls, just an all around singer.
Frogwood/carbon/mahoe....but every striker i have of his is awesome
🐸🐸🐸

Love the frog wood plays well on all surfaces! Hickory for slate, and cedar for soft work. Have a persimmon that kee keeps well, Macassar for everything, kattalox great on metal!! And get a real nasal rasp with the granadilla on copper. I'm positive he doesn't make a bad striker! Plus a great fellow to talk turkey with.
