A quick question for you call makers. When you are done turning your crystal and glass pot calls , how do you determine the spot on the call to condition. Just curious. Thanks
Like any thing else a builder knows where his calls run the best. Most of calls run any where from 1/4 from edge for bout 1in then dead the rest of way toward center I think most guys don't want whole surface conditioned when buying calls. Now I know my calls will run from outer edge young hen to the center for deeper gobbler yelps. Now the call below I know was mine so it was conditioned little over half way past center I think most people just like that little spot Question is would most people buy a call that was conditioned this way as below (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200308/62f9472b821e3a4b8ac58574dc3a334b.jpg)

Yes, I wish all of mine would come preconditioned like that.

When I was 12 I saved up a bout two or three months allowance and bought a Cody Glass Woodsman. It didn't even occur to me to only condition part of the call surface. I took the stone and conditioned all of the glass. It never bothered me, you could still see the inside of the call. I've noticed the call runs better (sounding to me) on certain areas of the call, but it's nice to be able to use the entire circumference of the pot for different tones.
