Title: Switching to Fed TSS 9's from 7's this year
Post by: cljohnson24 on February 12, 2020, 09:15:30 AM
My 535 is currently dialed in and shooting 244/10"@40y with Fed 3.5" TSS 7's and a SSX .643 choke. I thought I'd switch this year to the 9's after a lot of reading on their benefit over the 7's pattern wise. Do I want to use the same choke or try a more open choke?
I have several options:
Undertaker Non-ported .665 & .675
Mossberg factory ported Turkey .670
Browning factory Ported Turkey .690
Winchester factory Ported .665
Carlson Long beard .660

I'd throw one down range with that Carlson 660. Then move up or down depending on the results.

My ssx in my 500 shoots 9's great.  Better than anything else I've tried

From what I've researched..Trulock and Carlson make their TSS specific chokes @ .650 for 7's and .640 for the 9's. I think I will try the SSX first and if that is too tight or blown out..I'll try the Long Beard choke as suggested.

What kind of numbers did you guys get with the SSX and Long beard chokes?
