Title: Black Friday Deals
Post by: PA-strutter on November 26, 2019, 09:17:00 PM
Anyone know of any good deals on turkey gear that they want to share? I always enjoy saving money on something I don't totally need.

Monday I purchased two new boxes and some diaphragms from Greens Run Custom Calls. He's running Black Friday and a Christmas sales on his site and FB page.

Yes, Mossy Oak Store is running a nice sale. I ran across that last night when surfing the interwebs. I was able to get a 3X Bottomland Greenleaf Hoodie and a matching shirt for $30 total. I was very happy with that purchase.

If you use the code "Comeback10" you'll receive an additional 10% off.

When I got my 70" 6 years ago it was mind blowing going for a 27" to that so I know how you feel. Now my eyes are so bad I can't read some things on that and I only sit about 8 feet from it.

I watch a lot of the old stuff on Amazon anymore. I used to watch all my Steelers games but do not have anything to do with the NFL now so now I just watch my Sabres games and Celtics games when I can see them and lots of old stuff. I am addicted to The Walking Dead but I have been into zombie movies and post apocalyptic movies since I saw the Omega Men when I was about 8 or 9 years old.

Maven binoculars are some of the best on the market. I have used mine for 3 years now and they are a really overlooked high quality brand.

Thanks for the link, I may pick up myself a small set of binoculars

I'm about to order my first pair of Mavens. Before this all I have had were sub $100 binos bought from various places to keep in the truck. These will be c1's used for turkey hunting mainly and will be 12x42 I believe. Any advice you can give before I pull the trigger?

This may be of help when choosing a pair, asked when I was hoping to get a pair this past year but did not work out.

I think 12s would be very difficult for turkeys, that much power would be more for long range spotting and glassing.

If you are strictly buying for turkey, I would lean to the 7x28 or 8x42.

I have the B2 9x45s but they are used only for deer.

I have the vortex diamondback 10×42. I use them for both deer and turks and love them. Can't go wrong with their warranty either.

I guess I am one of the few that does not care for Vortex.  I had their 8x28s and gave them to a friend of mines son.

I have never had their bigger sets, so I don't have an opinion on them.

The more I think about it the more I'm leaning away from the 12x. I do think it will be 10x though. Thanks for the input, it helps me think things through.

I agree. I rather have something where do you don't have to use the great warranty but they are good for what they are. I also wouldn't go over 8's for turkeys unless your hunting big fields or out west.  I would love to have some mavens or Swaros!

Well, my sweetheart got me a pair of the Maven C1's in 10x42. I can honestly say that they live up to the expectations I had built up after 2 years of trying to decide on a pair of binos. I am thoroughly pleased with them. I think they will do great in the woods and on the edge of the fields.  I did see where they have the 20% off till the 31st, and a 10% off gift cards, as well as a discounted price for demos. I can't help but wonder if they would stack the discounts? It would be a great deal if they would.

Jumping in on the maven discussion I have a set of zen ray primes 8x42 they are excellent and on pair with the B series of maven but wanted something light my wife or kids can carry when I take them out as well as serve as a back up pair. At 30oz sometimes primes are more than necessary for timber hunting turkeys. I grabbed a c2 7x28 during their December sale.

Very nice for the money and will serve perfectly how I wanted them even my 5yr old can fit them to her face and run the adjuster.

Brightness, color, clarity, and fov are all vastly more important then magnification and yet the majority of people buy high power cheep binos which usually results in them being dissatisfied or not using them much in the field.
