Post by: derek on June 15, 2019, 04:50:41 PM
Some more video from this spring.. left Colorado and headed south.

First day met a snow storm and they still gobbled good!

Day 2 the weather got right and things started to fall into place - it was so good, we had to break this one down into 2 parts

Day 3 I get right in the middle of a herd of elk in the dark and get my chance at my second tag.

Day 3 pm get Bonce on a group of 3 longbeards at 15 yards... then a quick am hunt before we hit the road back home.

Great job again, guys!  I would guess I have walked those same ridges many times.  Those northeast NM turkeys are a blast!   ;D  :angel9:

Yessir,...hunt that particular part of NM and the barking elk scenario is a regular occurrence,...as is finding those sheds.  One nice thing about all the elk though is that you can pretty much blunder around the woods in the dark trying to approach a roosted gobbler and he will pay the noise no mind.  They are so used to elk making a racket in the dark that they usually just assume breaking branches at ground level are just another bunch of elk wandering past,...and will often gobble to say good morning!

 Yep!!! I used to be on a lease in FLA that had wild cows on it. We would walk around and if we stepped on a branch, we'd just let out a loud "MOOOOOO!!", then keep on going. ;D Worked like a charm!!!

Yup,...another good one!  Enjoyed going along on your New Mexico adventure (and the other states, as well).  That 31 hour drive doesn't sound like much fun, though....   You guys must be pretty darn good friends to put up with each other for that long!  ;D

Thanks to everyone who followed along. It was a fun trip for sure.

We kept the cameras rolling through 8 more states after this trip, more videos to come!
