I'm fortunate to have access to a couple smaller family land places as well as friends places that hold good numbers and was able to fill my four tags earlier than I ever have before. Still have a hunt or two here where I'll be calling for others and toting a camera. Will head into New Mexico after Easter to hunt Wednesday evening through Sunday. Giving Oklahoma a hard look as well should I fill my two New Mexico tags. Kansas is a possibility as well. Have extended family with a farm northeast of Wichita. I may be able to arrange a hunt swap in the future. Would love to try for an eastern.
Opening morning south zone bird (first opening day bird ever, Saturday, March 16th).

Was able to take these birds about an hour apart to finish my limit (Saturday, April 6th late afternoon)

Also finished up my beard/spur board. Ordered a red cedar plank to continue adding to the collection. Have two more to hang that I don't have room for.

They were down on my family place in Edwards county. Can't help but think the increase in hog population had something to do with it. Worked a couple of birds early in the season. Missed one cleanly rushing a shot. Had another inside of 30 twice, but setups weren't good for how he came in both times. Three of my birds this year came from Menard County on a friend's deer lease.

We had a great trip to the Somora area recently. Most of the mature Gobblers were with hens, but we still found a few that were willing to dance. Love that area of TX. Good luck on your hunt!
That's great congratulations.
Congrats. Hope your success continues!
Congrats on the season!
Continued success. Some great video I'll upload Sunday evening. Dad killed both, I just hopped in the photo with him.
Service is spotty at best. Will return PM's sometime tomorrow.

video is up. not much to it other than some Tom's in super tight to my dad who is just off frame no more than 8 yards from these birds. nearly takes the head off the first bird. they had approached from a wide open area and my dad had to wait until the began to turn before he could get his shotgun shouldered undetected.

I need to come to TEXAS!
There are a lot of birds down here. Access has always been the issue. Very much a pay to play state.
Come on up to Kansas! Lots of birds, and they're hot right now!
