Title: food plots
Post by: deersled on May 01, 2011, 03:18:41 PM
we just completed our summer food plots on my club. My question is......are turkeys attracted to freshly plowed dirt? was wondering if maybe they would be more prone to show up at these plowed up plots.

I have heard that they like bare soil but personally havent experienced it. all the ones i have seen in a field are in fields full of grass or other plants. I have seen that they dont like tall grass at all!

I have seen flocks of birds many times in grassy areas where their heads barely stuck up over the grass...as long as it isn't wet.  Turkeys will definetely converge on freshly plowed fields to pick out all the worms and bugs that were tilled up.  They REALLY love all those fresh suculent seedlings and will do almost as much damage to a new food plot as deer will.
