Title: Old Mossberg 183 KD
Post by: Skyhawk on March 08, 2019, 11:43:36 AM
I found this bolt action .410 with a C-lect choke system in my father's closet the other day. It was used very little and seems as solid and corrosion free as the day it left the factory. I'm wondering if there would be any safety issues with today's FACTORY (Browning or Federal) TSS loads in this gun. I would love to take it to the turkey woods. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I am running Apex 9.5s out of our old Mossberg bolt action 410 with a screw on full choke.  Shoots fantastic and have had no issues so far.

Thanks! Mine looks brand new but I was a bit concerned about modern pressures in a 50 year old gun. If it patterns well, I may try it out this year.

SAAMI spec's, .410.....13,500 for 3". Many fail to realize how low shotgun chamber pressures are compared to 22LR, which is nearly double, max at 24,000psi.

Does any company load tss #7 in .410? I've got an old 183d but live in Indiana.
