Here is my first attempt at creating a ferrule/ transition piece. I didn't design the barrel for this ferrule so it doesn't fit like it eventually will. Just wanting some opinions on the look of it as it stands now.....Thanks in advance!!

Definitely not bad at all, I would just prefer less stuff going on in the middle where the lanyard goes. Not trying to nit pick just being honest. I know there is only so much you can do to put your own twist on a basic design. Clean simple shape with beautiful wood and nice finish that sounds good and you will keep busy. You did do a nice job on the trumpet though and this is only my opinion others will think it is the great and not want you to change a thing.
I like it myself, I like the way the top is because I have problems with my hands and I think on days that my hands are really bugging me that a call with a shape like that would be easier to handle than a traditional trumpet shape, not that I am at all against that shape either. I really like the grain on it too, what is the wood?

Thanks Chris.....I actually agree with you about the lanyard area, I was having fun and went a little crazy with the cutter there. I was really trying to figure out the brass piece/transition area on this edition of "My 1st Trumpet"....lol....I think I am going to like it, in person it looks pretty good. I am going to build another trumpet tomorrow, either Cocobolo, African Blackwood, or Aussie Blackwood. Appreciate the feedback!

Thank you sir...the wood is Lignum Vitae, super hard stuff, perfect for a trumpet and helped make this one sing.

I just posted some pics of them. So busy I didn't even get to do any sound files, but I could not be happier with the way they play/sound.
A little busy for me, but I'm much more interested in the sound and playability. Still, a nice looking call Gregg.
