Figured I would start a thread to show of your Watkins Fiddle boxes! They've become my favorite box calls. Just got on his list for two more and looking for some combo ideas. What are your favorites? Here's two I have Bloodwood/Mineral Stained Poplar and Bubinga/Applewood. Both sound incredible.

I would lean towards mature hen...I believe when I picked he sent me 3 choices along with sound files. It starts high to low rasp down lower. PM me and I can send you my number in NY and I can play it for you....I'm sure he can send you file also. It was a pleasure dealing with him.

Those are both great boxes. My ebony over butternut saw a lot of vest time last year. The Kwila over Poplar sounds almost identical to my bloodwood over beech, only it doesn't have as much rasp.

I have one in serviceberry over walnut in a longbox Will. I'd classify it as young hen. Wonderful sounding box. The back end and yelp in general is very sweet and has a hollow tone to it.

I have a apple on order. Have not decided on the lid. I also have a ipe over mulberry and a bloodwood over walnut on order from him. That will give me 10 fiddle boxes from him.

Yes you can pick your combo. When your name comes up , he will contact you and ask what you are looking for or you can tell him the combo that you want when you place the order.
