Title: Winchester trigger problems
Post by: Fatbeard on March 27, 2018, 04:16:44 PM
Picked up a Winchester SXP 20 guage Longbeard 24" gun and finally got around to putting it together and was going to let my nephew shoot it this year. Chamber a round squeeze trigger and nothing. Hammer does not move. Pump gun and push the safety button on and back off. Nothing! Removed the trigger assembly and can get the hammer to go forward but nit via the trigger. Any Ideas on the issue? Winchester said send it back but this is crazy. Oh yea they were out if trigger assemblys also

Hate to hear that for you. I bought a NWTF Winchester around 1990. It was my first dedicated turkey gun and it did the exact same thing you are witnessing. I sent it back to Winchester twice and the best it ever got was it would fire sometimes. Talk about disgusting, call in a bird and "click", pump it, spook the bird and maybe it would go off and maybe not. I haven't owned a Winchester since. I know several guys who hunt them and have nothing but great things to say about them. I will say back then that shotgun would throw a wicked pattern with the factory choke.

They come with a "hard" trigger, had mine worked on, otherwise decent gun

Hard is not the issue it mechanically does not work at all. It moves about an 1/8 of an inch if that

I bought a sxp 12ga. that was a piece of junk. you fired a shot, ratched the gun, a new shell would chamber and another would fall out on the ground. the sxp is made in turkey, I promptly sold this gun and bought a sx3 longbeard that is a great gun.

I was going to pickup a sxp long beard, I'll have to dry fire it before I pay.

I bought a 20ga. Longbeard SXP. I have shot it a bunch without any issues. The trigger is stiff but it has worked fine.
