In your home state, how far do you have to drive to where you do most of your turkey hunting? I live in Washington and my shortest drive is a little over an hour and my longest drive is a solid 3 hours. I'm envious of those of you who live within minutes of hunting spots. I'd love to be able to hunt in the afternoon after I get off from work.
3 miles.
I have my window open and the gobbling wakes me up most mornings beginning in early february. I walk less than a quarter of a mile to hunt them. i am truly blessed to have this opporutnity.
I have three spots, all a hour drive, I wish I could walk out the back door, maybe some day!
5-30 minutes.

2 hours, 13 minutes, and 47 seconds...approximately.
15 minutes
9 hours to my normal spot. One way. It used to be just three hours away and then I moved. I think I found something 4 hours away but won't know until the opener.
Count your blessings :)
Used to be 3 minutes up the hill from me but now it is 20-35 minutes.
3 hours minimum
4 minutes away, but I can only kill one turkey in this zone so the next spot is 2-3 hours away.
5min to get there by truck then 30min walk to my listening spot.
I'm usually good for one gobbler about 200 yards from the back porch. My other spots are about 20-25 minutes from home.

Anywhere between 20 min and 1.5 hours.
As close as across the street and as far as 30 minutes.
5 minutes to an hour I can be in any one of my spots in NH or Maine
38 miles... about 45 minutes depending on lights and traffic

6 hours south, 4.5 hours west, 6 hours NW. I do have some land with limited Eastern opportunities about 90 minutes away...usually my last hunt(s) of the season.
I hunt literally all over the state of Oklahoma. My home turf is mostly within 30 miles of home.
about 30 minutes
2 to 35 minutes
Walk out the back door. Wife saw me shoot my bird last year from the kitchen table while eating lunch and imidiately jumped on the SxS with the kids to come get me.
Other spot is 15 min away
181 miles to my MS ground.
130 miles to my LA ground.
12 hours to most of the other states I hunt.
If all goes well, I can usually walk out the back door and be there in about 10 to 15 minutes. Other times I ride the side-by-side a half a mile and walk for another 10-15 minutes. The only reason the walk takes this long is because I got to be sneeky to get close. If these spots don't pan out sometimes I have to drive about 10 miles.
I have to leave my house at 1:30 tomorrow to get to the spot in time to hear them gobble. I have a pretty good walk ahead of me though.
I can be hunting in minutes or hours just depending on where I am going! :turkey2:
45 Miles, N, S, E and W.
10 minutes
Most is a few minutes w a few exceptions. Closest I can walk to. Gonna check some new spots maybe 10-15 minutes away this year
3 hours for my two favorite areas. 6 to 7 hours to a couple more. We have birds within 20 minutes but it's previously been by limited drawing only. It just went to a general tag, so will be great for getting my wife and teenagers out.
Anywhere from walking out the front door to a long 5 minute drive.

Because of my car accident I was unable to hunt for 17 years, I went back to get permission but now they have family that hunts it.
20 minutes to my closest spot and a little over an hour to my furthest spot.
50 yds out my back door
45 min to 2 hours.
I have gobblers that literally wake me up if I'm sleeping with the windows open. Usually within 75 yards. I can't hunt them unfortunately. Trying to buy the property now. My farm is about twenty minutes and then I've got anywhere between a 2 and 20 minute walk.
The absolute nearest place I could hunt turkeys is about an hour and a half. Most of time, however, the places I hunt are two to three hours drive. Just depends on where I decide to go on any given hunt.
As far as it takes.

That goes for me also, my home state, its still a 2hr drive to our private land. But SD BH then WY BH is a 9hr. But then Florida next week by plane long trip, then to Oklahoma April 5 don't know how far don't care will get there some time. Got my License for Wi in May but not sure if I can squeeze it in or not. Do wildlife removal, excluded Bats from houses. Have a good problem in a way, more jobs then day light to do them. But have to pay for this addition some way. When I fully retire maybe I to can too spend three months turkey hunting, like some lucky people get to do.
Small highly pressured and low bird population public is 20-40min.
Any private ground I have access to is 3-24hrs away with the majority of it residing in another state 4.5hrs away. Lots of weekend trips for me.

Two private spots, about 10 minutes. very large public spot, 30 minutes to a little over an hour (Same place - it is huge and I frequent several areas).
I literally could walk out my front door, cross the road and start hunting but I usually drive the 1 minute to park closer so I'm not walking a mile ( usually my ol man is with me so the shorter the walk the better for him). That is one spot, I have several spots within a 5 to 15 minute drive in a complete radius around my house. I also have several spots up to 1 to 1.5 hrs away but find myself going tho them less and less. Why travel when I got it close to home. Realize how good I have it after reading some reply's in this thread!! Good luck this spring guys!!!
30 mins to 3 hours
The closest spot is 25 miles. The farthest is 73 miles going and 73 miles back.
1 hour, to 3 hours.i found a herd only a half hour away, the other day.
Hour and thirty eight minutes, give or take a pit stop.... :morning:
It takes me about an hour. I like it, gives me time to drink a monster and form a game plan for the day!
Just moved to NC last year and have found some land to hunt on about an hour from the house. In NY it was from 10 mi-45 min
