Title: Plain barrel sight options
Post by: Teduardo on February 26, 2018, 04:24:57 PM
I have a 20 gauge youth 120 Ranger with a 22" plain barrel with winchoke. It is throwing a great pattern with multiple shells and chokes. Problem is I don't want a scope but it's consistently high with every combination. High as in 7-8" high. I shot Apex 9s, Longbeard 6s and Heavyweight 7s. Is there any other adjustable sight options for a plain barrel other than a saddle mount and scope/red dot? TIA

Look at the Williams Firesight or Ghost Ring.

Well dang. Neither will work on my 120. I guess it's either going to be a dove gun for my kids or collect dust. I'm not big on scopes and have other guns that I can hunt with. Was REALLY wanting to use this one though.

Take it to a gunsmith and have them solder on rifle sights

Sorrry I guess I didn't see the plain barrel (no rib). Gunsmith is a good idea and maybe have drilled/tapped for a weaver mount & red dot.
How accurate can u get w just the bead. Lots of birds died to a bead sight befor all the hype

Oh I'm not a sight on a shotgun fan at all. But my Winchester Youth 120 Ranger is shooting every combo under the sun about 7-8" high. Other than that it's a throwing a great pattern. Maybe something else wrong...bent barrel maybe? I reckon I'll take it to the gunsmith or not hunt with it. Haven't used it in almost 30 years.

That's an option I'm open to. Thanks for the tip.

You need a higher front bead. It might just unscrew. Or call or e-mail winchester and they should know how to do it. If it shoots as good as you say, ain't no way it's  gathers dust in a corner !!!!  It's probably a five minute fix. Hope it works for you and you kill a big tom with it.
