What size blank is needed to make a trumpet?
Not looking to turn these myself. I want to keep my eye open for some of the harder to obtain woods, purchase the blanks myself, and have someone else (don't know who that is) make one from it.
1.5" x 1.5" x 6"-8" is usually fine, depending on the builder I guess.

thank you
Most makers can get a trumpet out of a piece 1 3/8 Sq. by 6 1/2 but be warned just because you pay big money for a blank does not mean you will get a killer call so much wood is cut away in making one a lot of the time the best wood is lost.
I use a 1.5x1.5x6

I agree i would much rather get my own wood instead of using someone elses wood.
