Ridiculous thing is it sounds even better. LOL. A member here turned me on to the green slate to build him a call just like this and I'm just blown away by this combo. One will be in my personal vest in 2018.

what is green slate and how does it differ from regular slate?

Green Slate is quarried along the VT/NY border, and the traditional black is from PA.

Green slate is harder then the black slate...

It tends to have a higher pitch, less mellow, can be quite loud...

Awesome! So glad you love it, this is truly turned into one of my favorite calls to make.

And yes, as has been mentioned it is a good bit harder, it definitely sounds different. It's a little higher and more nasal than traditional slate and comes from a different location as well. Also, the people who sale it are very proud of it. LOL
