This has always been a curiosity of mine. How much conditioning is too much? On my glass/crystal especially if I get one out to play with it, it gets conditioned (100 grit sanding screen on glass/crystal) before going back up. Same goes for strikers. If at the end of my play time they have build up on the tip of them, they get a the scotchbrite treatment (pad in palm, tip in center, twist till clean). I'm pretty "bad" or "good" depending on if your in the house with me or not about playing my calls. Wife tends to dislike the sounds of a hen turkey the further away from March I get haha. I do play them a lot though. It's good relaxation therapy for me, but I just wanted to see how often or unoften you fellas conditioned your pots/strikers.
Depends on a call but a good call conditioned well should not have to be conditioned a lot. I prefer 180 sanding screen on glass/Crystal.

Hey buddy I'm up there with you! I'm always messing with my calls and playing them year-round till fall from Fall to Spring.
Generally, some of the best calling, comes when the call is so slick, that the striker is barely grabbing, so I hardly ever condition glass or crystal, until the striker won't catch.
I AGREE WITH DAGGERZ 100% ............
Daggerz +1 :you_rock: :you_rock:
I run calls pretty much all year. It's like therapy, it calms me n I just love it like many.
Dif is I'm primarily an aluminum call guy. Bead blasted almost never needs cleaning, I rough up my anondized n that too never needs conditioning.
Slate I touch up w scotch brite n the crystal/glass you mentioned vary. Some calls like a crystal mistress really never need anything, other glass/crystal seem to need more but I only do much as necessary for that call or striker
I agree with some of you guys about therapy, if I ever get in a bind I run a call or get on the tractor and ride it all day I only sand when it sounds like it needs it but way less in the off season
