Post by: Wvgobbler on May 29, 2017, 10:10:04 PM
Thought about getting one. Do they make for a good striker? And what surface's do they run well? Thanks for the help.

For me they are a good soft talker on slate.

its a decent striker on slate. I had one and traded it. had too many other strikers that sounded much better to me.

My favorite strikers for slate are persimmon and dogwood. I paired a West Augusta spalted dogwood with a Sneed Hot Hen slate and called in 15 gobblers to the gun with the combo one spring. I did this in several states so gobblers all over liked the combo. Keep in mind I do not run a slate call real loud. I try to see how soft I can run it instead of how loud it will play.

A Harold Fowler Dogwood striker paired with a good slate call will help kill a pile of turkeys!
