For some odd reason, I like proph reed calls. I'm sure I'm not sealing off of using the air properly, but on most calls I get a ton of rasp to where it doesn't even sound good.
One call I love is the doug Crabtree call by woodhaven. It's a 3 reed proph call with inverted combo cut.
Is there any more similar to this call out there? I have wondered if some like houndstooth, xt, or gooserbat would make me one to try?

Lyle (Houndstooth) stocks a 3 reed all proph combo cut called the "All Pro 3 Reed". He will also make any call of any combination/cut you want.

Hooks makes a V cut with top and bottom reeds of phrop. I was told that the middle reed of any 3 reed call doesn't do anything anyways.

I'm with you and really do well on prophylactic calls. Mountain Hollow game calls and Longbeard Life.
I have a couple of all proph recipes. I don't catalog those but I do build on request. One is a four teed combo cut and the other is a 3 reed with a check cut.
