Hey guys!
Well, dad has had a rough go of it this week. I screwed up 2 hunts on Monday (yes, 2 in the span of 2 hours)!
The rest of the week has been hit or miss. Weather hasn't been great, but I kept plugging.
Wednesday brought nothing, so today I decided to try a different area.
Got in early, set up my decoys, and waited.
The birds started hammering at first light!
I couldn't believe the amount of gobbling! I had 2 right below me 1 field over, along with some hens.
I finally heard turkeys on the ground, but they were hens!
I got into some decent arguments with a couple, when I finally heard a booming gobble from the field below!
I cut at him hard, and he hammered! Cut at again, and he hammered once more.
I shut up, and got ready.
I heard the ftttt....... dooooooonnnn, and walking through the woods!
He pops out, and immediately goes into full strut, then walks.
He kept doing this multiple times, till finally, I lined him up, and the Federal Heviweight's found their mark!
16.5 lbs, 9.5" beard, R spur was 3/4", and L spur was broken, but they gave me 1/4" for it anyway!
It was a great hunt, and I want to give my good friend Guesswho a big shoutout.
He was coaching me all this spring, and his knowledge and help were invaluable, as is his friendship!
Good luck to all still hunting!

Good job Mike, on all three birds. Quite a year for the Clarks :icon_thumright: I enjoyed the in the field communications, but persistence and good attendance killed that gobbler. The credit is all on you and the Clark clan. Jobs well done! Now sleep in tomorrow ;D
