Title: Quiet this am
Post by: mnbirdbuster on April 11, 2017, 11:42:15 AM
Well snuck out this am before work to try and get a fix on a bird before tomorrows MN opener. In previous roosting runs I've at least heard far off gobbles as well as a gobble or two from a pair of birds I've been following. Today nothing at all??? Not even any far off gobbles! It had been unseasonable warm on the previous trips but for the last 36hrs prior to this am which was clear, the birds have had to deal with 20mph constant winds and an off/on drizzle almost all night. Not to mention a 15deg plummet in temp. It was 55deg Sun am and they were going as far as the ear could hear away, it was 38deg today and nothing. Can i chalk this silence up to weather as birds haven't been hunted yet and peak gobbling should be here?

Where we you?  I was out in the Mankato area on Sunday morning.  I hit 3 different spots and didn't get a single response.
