Title: Need Advice - New 20 Gauge World
Post by: Bottomland on April 02, 2017, 08:42:11 PM
Okay im am trying to enter the 20 gauge turkey gun world and need some help.  Currently I have a Benelli M2 with a 24'' barrel.

So here are some of the questions I have:
1.  I need a choke.  Plan on getting a Rhino, Indian creek or sumtoy.  What do y'all recommend?  Shell I want to shoot will be the TSS which brings me to my next question.

2.  I want to build me some Tss shells for the 20 gauge.  I have a reloader and I reload skeet/trap rounds pretty regularly.  So my question is what do I need?  Where can I buy everything?  Also I really need a recipe for the tss round.  Don't really have know where to begin on that.  What ounce shot? What type of wads? Powder?

Really need some help on this, please point me in the right direction.  Pretty excited about entering the 20 gauge world.

Many on here are shooting with a .575 Carlson or Trulock for hunting patterns.

I reload for bird hunting and clays, but my TSS setup is completely different. You need to get in touch with Hal or Shooter on the other forum. They spent a lot of time and money working up the loads. They will give you the recipe when you buy the shot. Lots of components and you will need a roll crimper unless you want to adjust your presses. The only equipment I use for my lead field loads and the TSS loads are my scales, everything else is different.

There's a good video on YouTube that shows step buy step instructions for the Tss. He don't give data, but it'll give you an idea of how to get started.

I got into loading TSS this year and by the time I got all the components, shot, scales, vibrating tool, drill press, roll crimper, I had roughly $250 into this deal.  Was it worth it.  Probably,  I shot a mature bird last week with TSS # 9's out of a 2 3/4 inch 12 gauge and he never flopped,  was stone dead,  his buddy got a follow up shot of Winchester Long Beards # 6's. The shot alone is running $50 a lb.
