Title: Albert Paul or David Halloran box?
Post by: coyote1 on March 22, 2017, 08:16:58 PM
Between these two makers which would you choose and what wood combo? I have not ran a call from either. Thanks

Personally I know many guys will say Albert Paul but I like Davids better. I've only run a few Pauls calls in fairness though. Davids calls are really easy to run and sound great.

Listen to both.  Especially listen to the one you would be receiving.  Personal preference will decide for you.  You know in your head what you "want" to hear.  Doesn't matter who made it.  AP would be more collectible down the road.  Just my two cents.

Good idea. The one that you can run is the one you need. Both make fine calls.

I can think of very few, if any, that can beat David's glass/crystal calls. But the box, I'd take Albert Paul.

I had to make this same decision not to long ago, I went with a Halloran purpleheart.

Albert Paul's calls are fantastic he doesn't do anything else he's a master. David Halloran is a very young guy I would grab a Paul call who knows when he might decide to retire.

You are right about this. I just got off the phone with Mr. Paul, what a great guy to talk to. Ordered a walnut/poplar.

Can't speak for Davids, I'm sure he builds a fine one, as do many other very talented people on this forum. Comparing them is certainly not my style, but I can tell you this. I've hunted Alberts for years and IMO you cannot purchase a better turkey killing boxcall.

I will find out in 3 or 4 weeks when the call arrives.

Albert Paul  makes some great box calls. They have been turkeys worse nightmare.. I have been hunting with them for years.
You will be very satisfied with your combo. I have one just like it !!

Would anyone be willing to post a soundfile of the Paul walnut/poplar call?
I have several of Albert's calls, but not that combo.
Thanks,
Greg
