What turkey load for a modified choke 12g 2 3/4? i dont wanna spend an arm and leg looking for shells that patterns good
Your really limiting your range with a modified choke but if that is what you have to hunt with I think I would buy a box of Fiocchi Golden Pheasant 2 3/4 #6 and see what kind of pattern you get a 20 yards. I would think past that your pattern is going to be getting very thin to constantly and humanly kill a gobbler.
Yeah that's all I have going to have to make do and find a good load
try some of the Federal flite control shells

It won't make a whole lot of difference at your limited range. The choke will limit you more than the shell selection in your case.
See if Federal has something with flightcontrol wads for 2 3/4", preferably #6s.
Rooster XR... basically 2 3/4" version of the longbeard xr
Or try the fed heavywt 7 in 2 3/4"
jbo, what most of us are saying is we understand you want to get into turkey hunting and you are on a limited budget. But you are putting a tremendous limitation on yourself and killing a turkey cleanly with a 2 3/4 inch gun, modified choke and a gun that will only cycle Remington shells. With a modified choke and 2 3/4 inch shells, your pattern will dissipate quickly, to have enough pellets to ethically kill a turkey. Winchester XX shells #4 or 5's with 1 1/2 oz of shot would be a possibility. Your also going to have to limit your shots to 20 to 25 yards due to the modified choke. Once you choose a shell you will need to pattern the gun and shell in order to know what yardage that combo will kill effectively. Good luck with your search.
Thanks everyone as much as I want to go buy all this stuff my wife would kill me right now due to having a new born but like said I'll try one of the mentioned and pattern it and see how it does
Well if you are on a buget then the heavyweights are out, cause there not cheap! I don't know what shotgun you have, but I've never seen one that wouldn't shoot a variety of shells. I have seen some that favored certain shells, but not just one brand only. And don't limit yourself to 20- 25yds either, with heavy field loads you should be good to 30yds. When I say field loads, I mean 1 1/4oz and up. Win. Super X turkey 1.5oz #6 would also be good. Get some large cardboard or paper, shoot at close range. So you know we're it's shooting, not all shotgun shoot the same poi, most are high. Once you get confident with it, you want to keep at least 100 pellets in a 10" circle at 30yds, if not more. And if it won't do that, move a little closer until you hold a good pattern. This isn't rocket science, so don't overthink it, just get to know the shotgun, and learn yardages, and most all have good time doing it. Good luck, and congratulations on the baby!

x2. Was going to post the same. On a limited budget I doubt someone would spend approximately 20$-25$ for a box of 5 shells. Whatever shell you choose pattern and know what your limitations.
