Love Turpin style callers and hunt with one every spring and fall. IMO an easy call to play and they sound sooooo good in the woods. My first were the Penn's Woods calls and that started me on the road to building a few. Then came my first Biily Buice box in elm/ black locust. As time went on I picked up a few more Buice calls along with Charlie Parrish, Richard Hudson, Erving Whitt, Ed T, Travis game, Doug Morgan calls and now four John Eddelman calls. Killers every on of them. Thanx for the look. Yes it does. This call is one that I had made for my friend Jessie Newsom as a thank you for the sycamore he had sent me. Jessie has since passed on (god rest his soul and I miss him ) and the guy who sold this on ebay a few months back had got it when he bought a storage unit in Norman, Ok. Jessie's home was flooded and it almost looks like this was in it.
A few that I've had the enjoyment of making. They're a real treat to work on!

Nice work Chris and thanx for sharing.
My pleasure, Turpin's are a fun call to make and play.
Nice collection of Turpins Mr. Lyman!
Here is a Richard Hudson Teak/Snakewood Hen Box & My first attempt at making a box call. My box is Teak/Snakewood with Macassar Ebony and Honduran Mahogany layers. I am a big fan of Snakewood as a lid(expensive stuff), it rocks, and the Teak is fantastic too. I have been building acoustic guitars for many years, so for me building box calls is just like creating a mini musical instrument....fun stuff!!

I hope everyone keeps posting some Turpin style callers. I don't want to change the course of this thread but I thought some of you might like seeing some Tom Turpin duck calls. TN duck calls are my other weakness! Turpin open water calls stamped with three ducks. This was his most common style.
