Primarily for a slate surface, lost the original laminated one with a flared tip and it has not sounded the same since.
Recommendations please.

Yep! Along with Rosewood, Maple or Dymondwood. If you can find one try Oak too!!

I have one ordered and paid for and just waiting for it to get done.
Dogwood is my current favorite but I also like Purpleheart, Canarywood, Persimmon, and Locust.

here is one i just finished for Outdoors....dymondwood is the best all round shafting material I believe as far as laminated strikers go...
