I have a Halloran Twisted Sister that is always with me. I want to get a slate call to compliment it. Something a bit more mellow than the sister.

Cody World Class Slate!! This has been the end of more turkeys than any other call I have.

Dean Redbeard Mundhenke or a Jack Mincey slate are my top two choices for slate surfaced pots.
If you can find a Halloran laminate slate it may be one of the best
Lonnie Sneed hot hen.
Matt McClain cedar slate...

Lonnie Sneed hot hen.
This ^
Also, and I'm not a slate fan, I'd look at Mike Yingling's slate. I've got on in an ingrown maple pot and it flat sings. I've had lots of slates. Most were production calls. Had a Sinclair, Halloran and a Cody. All that's left is the Yingling and sneed. They've been the best of the best.

That's a sharp display. I've never run the world class but killed lots of birds w a woodsman. Haven't given away or sold that one. Only non custom I have. It's a very decent call and I used it to call a double for my daughters firsts
Halloran Walnut/Wenge Slate it took place of the sneed slate
Gene's Slates are terrific, simple yet astounding for the price its mad not to have one. get the Cherry Slate

Thanks! Came up with the design, a guy from Cody got me the sign. If you get on their FB page you might notice my "Hook'd" bird there :)
I have a good story on my Cody and how I now own 2 World Class Slates :) Ones on the "Collector" Shelf

I find myself using a Sneed Hot Hen more than any other pot call.
Sneed Hot Hen or a Lonzo Birdseye maple
Lonzo yellowheart - slate over aluminum.
MAC call by Mark Cornelious very very hard to beat
My Sneed Hot Hen compliments my crystal mistress quite well. And I like how the hot hen has the traditional slate sound. A lot of the top slate calls sound like a glass call to my ear.My :z-twocents:
1 Longnecker Paduak slate: https://youtu.be/j-k_ItW_g7I
2 Sneed hot hen
The longnecker slate can make your ears bleed, or toned down mellow. The hot hen is just classic good. I like them both, but the paduak is always in my vest.
Lots of good ones, I'd say
Platz Cherry slate

I would have to say the exact same thing... love the display btw, I just have coffee cans of beards but alot of them met there doom by my Cody slate
Along with my twisted sister, I'll carry 2 Jimmy Schaffer slates. They're different woods and 2 distinctly different birds. Both will scream or talk soft.
Sneed Hot Hen or Darrin Dawkins walnut slate

Sneed Hot Hen
Misfire Walnut
2 different birds, Always in my vest.
I really like my platz cherry and dawkins walnut. I recently got a yellowheart slate from lon trice and it immediately went in my vest.
Check out cross road calls. Richard makes a great looking fantastic sounding call for a very good price. He has a website and lots of calls on ebay. You won't be disappointed.

X2
I would give Lonzo a call and if he can't get you one made up before your season starts Midwest turkey supply usually has the Birdseye maple in stock
I just got a Yingling walnut slate and it is full of turkey. Very easy runner as well.
