Title: choke suggestion help for heavyweight 7
Post by: PineyRooster on March 01, 2017, 06:16:49 PM
I purchased a trulock hvywt 7 choke for my sbe2. I shot it today with 3.5" federal hvywt 7 load at 40 yards. I put up almost 150 in the 10 but I couldn't help but notice all the 2" plus gaps in the 10 ring and across the board. It seemed as if the load was over choked. I suppose I will send it back and try another choke from trulock, possibly something with a little less constriction. Let me also say I purchased a full strut 655 last year but was not impressed with the feds in it. However I kept it because it shot the longbeard loads exceptionally well. Any other choke suggestions for the feds? possibly a more open constriction trulock or another choke manufacturer? any suggestions greatly appreciated.

George Truelock makes a choke just for the Federal Heviweights. If you get it shoot it and don't like it. Send it back for a 100% refund.

I have several of his Heviweight chokes. My 3" Remington will do 190-200, my superx-2 and Remington 11-87 3.5 will shoot 210ish.

Heard good things about Carlson's.  You can never go wrong with Sumtoy or IC

I've seen good results with the Rob Roberts Final Strut chokes using the Feds.  Call them and they will get you fixed up.  If for some reason it doesn't pattern the way you want it to with their recommendation they will swap it out until you do get the results you're looking for.
