So Will asked me to create something for him to use in competition...
This is the Crystal Ping.
It's a completely new pot design for piercing cutting and yelps. It will reach out long distance through the stiffest of winds.
Here's the link to the sound clip on YouTube.... https://youtu.be/8BDcU_SCjMU. I'll try to upload pics below.
I'd like to hear your honest feedback. I don't have any for sale yet and I'm curious if anyone would be interested.
Thanks in advance.... John

Definitely a different sound than the rest of your calls, but maybe just a touch too screechy? To high pitched in the second note of the yelp, like nails on a chalk board kinda.
It sounds good, despite what I typed above. I liked it better than the cherry crystal you posted earlier this year. It has more of rasp and nasal bark that's more typical of crystal. The cherry crystal was missing that.
I hope I didn't offend you with my opinion
Heck no I'm not offended! This is what I'm looking for! It's always a gamble when you change your pot design inside or out.

I personally think it's one of your best sounding pots. If you could bring down the real high pitched front end, to me it would be perfect!
x2. I will agree with this.

QuoteX3 Right at the first part of yelp like was said is to screechy, and after that it's golden...
Man I love it just the way it is. If you built that to cut the wind I'd say you nailed it. I LOVE the high pitched front end and the rasp. :icon_thumright:
Where is the call being played?

kinda like a long box with that overly piercing high note, I'm sure it'd drag a few responses out of some reluctant gobblers when it cuts the air

X4 to me there is a unnatural begining sound. It is super high pitched and doesn't sound natural. The rest like the others have said sound great.
i think it sounds great. A little different, but i really like it. :z-winnersmiley:
In my opinion by far your best sounding pot.
Unique yelp for sure, I like it
That call is a killer !
I hear lots of hens that carry that high front end when they're getting on with it.
Really nice back end on it too, I'd hunt it in a heartbeat :icon_thumright:
Sounds really good John. I also notice that high pierce, like crystal that is starting to slip before you condition... but I'm not sure if its a deal breaker. Curious to hear outside and / or different striker.
Nice work as always!
Sounds exactly like a guy running a pot call.....and nothing like any turkey I've heard :)
I would agree it sounds pretty high on the front of the yelp but I bet it will make a public land pressured bird gobble on a windy day!

I have to agree with this observation. I love the backend, if the frontend could tone down just a bit it would be AWESOME !!!!!
Thanks for all the feedback!!!!!! I am listening, stay tuned, I made some alterations, and trying a secret soundboard. I LOVE experimenting to get the sound you guys want. I'm toning down the front end but keeping the Yelp and rasp the same. I will post soundfiles in a day or two of the modified pot.
Once again, thanks for the feedback, I can't make one call everyone likes but I'm looking for a new sound in my lineup????
Look forward in hearing it and appreciate the opportunity to give you an opinion...
I like the look of the new pot too!
Yes John, you are really putting yourself out there and that's commendable. You make some beautiful calls. I have a Lignum vitea of yours with a titanium playing surface and I love that call. Keep up the good work!

I would love to hear that call from about 60 yards away in the woods. To me, I (and Gobblers) love that front end. You could always run a heavier, softer striker if you want to tone it down a bit, but I think as is, you got a call that will pile 'em up.
Sounding good !!

John,
Both pots and both strikers sound great. The two piece gaboon striker has what I like. It's an older hen sound on both pots. If I had to pick one it would be the cherry pot. Both sound great and to each his own. They are fine pot calls!
Doug
I also like the ebony better on both, but with the Paduak as my favorite combo. Sounds like an old hen to me!
I kind of like the prototype call sound better, a little high on the front, but sometimes that's what it takes. I think you should offer the call in a Ping I & Ping II model. If you were selling the prototype model, I'd buy it now.
The padauk is the same pot with a different soundboard. The prototype padauk was a slate soundboard. I can make it with any soundboard. Pm me if you want one and what soundboard you want.

X2 slightly...cherry would be a killer also!!! Did you ever try that Ebony striker or any others on that Original prototype call?
I'm dig'n the cherry, especially with the Gabon two piece. Gobblers around here would eat that up for sure!
I like the sound of that cherry as well...with both strikers...so I ordered them!!

outside sound file by Will --> https://youtu.be/rt6qPSRAIhU
That Will ain't the best with a camera......but he sure can run a turkey call!!
Sounds great.
John, I really liked the outside sound of the call. I thought the yelps were very crisp with good rasp and the cuts were off the chart !!!
John,
Those cuts are outstanding and she really cries old and ready.
Checked the mail box after work, and found a cherry ping inside! The call is striker friendly, and can can get aggressive cutting/cackling with ease. Awesome call for sure. Thought I would like the two piece Ebony more, judging by the sound file, but gravitate to the one piece Osage when playing it for myself.
Looks like the soundboard is hammered copper? Thanks for the call John, wife loved her hot pink striker too.
If a gobbler is looking for rasp he will find it in that call.
