I am working on trying to make my Son's last eligible youth season a memorable one. I am wanting to start off in my native state of Louisiana. I have lived in Missouri for the past 20 years, but I have a lifetime license for Louisiana.
From looking online it appears there are no fees for even nonresident youth and it also appears Youth Season is limited to private land only.
Is there anything I am missing?
So far, I am planning on hitting Louisiana, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska with him.

Nice to see you are coming home to Louisiana for a hunt. The one thing you missed are the lottery hunts that are available for the youth hunt, and these are on public lands. They may be worth looking into.....
I hunt public land only in Louisiana, and have had several good seasons recently. I don't know what part of Louisiana you are planning to hunt, give a shout and I will be happy to help if I can. And I will return to Missouri again this year... loved it last year and can't wait to get back up your way..

I have a buddy who has a lease in Lincoln Parish in North Louisiana, that I am planning on hunting, but I didn't want to take more than one off it. My backup was to go hit some of the Kisatchie Forest that I used to hunt for bird number two if we got lucky with the first bird.
Looks like option two won't be available.
I could hunt the family place, but that would be another 3.5 hours drive further south.
Many of the public lands have their own seasons and regs, you'll have to scroll through the reg book to (they're at the back) to see which public lands have youth seasons and if they are lottery or not.
for example Big Lake (never been there, not saying you should) has open youth turkey season on March 18-19.
Actually, after a quick scroll, Big Lake is the only one I saw that does not indicate it is a lottery, its 19,000 acres in north LA, so it could be worth checking out, but I'd call the Monroe LDWF office to be sure.
It also looks like some federal lands have open youth season, Kisatchie National Forest is March 18-19, and Catahoula and Red dirt are March 18 - 19.
Big Lake could be great for a youth hunt; regular season, way too much pressure. Tensas NWR may have a youth hunt, and if one has access to a boat, thousands of low pressure acres would be available hunting from the river during a youth hunt. Regular season again has way too much pressure. The last time I hunted either, I got an answer at about 2:30 and soon heard drumming. Unfortunately, I soon heard calling from three points of the compass and the drumming ceased. One of the callers apologized, but I told him that he did exactly as I would have done upon hearing a gobble. Way too many people and I haven't been back. That was over 25 years ago. I can't imagine what the pressure would be now. But a youth hunt could work out nicely. Beautiful, unique country.
Thanks for the replies. I looked at the back of the regulations booklet and it looks like the public area I am familiar with is open for Youth Season.
