i guess here in PA. the legeslators ar trying to pass a bill that you can't go out and call turkeys before spring gobbler season.
i wonder how they can stop this and enforce it.
I believe that falls under freedom of speech!!! lol
Some of them guys shouldn't be allowed to call to turkeys even after the season opens.
It used to be that way in Illinois. I assume that it still is.
We could use a bill like that in NY.
Now that would mean no way of finding them few days before opener....thought it legal to hunt over corn too...live and learn....learn something new ever time go in woods.
It's that way in IL. Helps keep poaching down ,I'm sure.
It's like that in KY too, but you can use locator calls

On my smaller properties I never call before season... I just listen in the weeks leading up to opening weekend. I don't want them getting used to the call.. which they can do real quick.
They defiantly respond better the first few times they hear it.. I want that to be opening day.
They will start to gobble in late Jan/Feb here in Fla... all you have to do is use owl hoot and ears at the break of dawn.
Everyone has theories about calling before season. Personally I think nothing positive comes from it but this has gotta be the dumbest waste of tax payers money. Absolutely ridiculous given some of the things going on in the world
I practice calling in the State Park down the road before the season. That way, I'm not messing with any birds that are being hunted and I'm getting the tone and cadence of my calling tuned up. I can't see where they should have a problem with that.
