Wanted to see what you guys like. Need ideas for another call to add to my vest!
I have a CODY World Class Slate call I have been running for over 20 years and it has ended more gobblers than anything else I have used!!
MK M GOBL
John Sinclair Copper Bocote. David Halloran Walnut Wenge Slate is awful nice as well. I love to play pot calls but hardly ever hunt them.

Daybreak Paduak Ceramic, Sinclair Ebony Titanium, Halloran Crystal Mistress
Lonzo anodized aluminum over aluminum in acrylic pot or Schaffer mad hen 1 are two top favorites.
Shaffer Atomic 13, awesome!!!
This one:

Crystal Mistress
I'm gonna go a couple calls that are already mentioned, Schafers Atomic 13 is brutal n it's def a meat call. Same for his Sapele aluminum. Hallorans crystal mistress is hard to beat too. Lonzo's calls are great, MAC's, Dawkins stoned aluminum is fantastic, just ordered a stoned aluminum from Lonzo, Platz calls, God too many to mention. Whatever the birds favorites are is my favorite but the first couple calls are normally w me n served me well. If you don't have a surface, such as aluminum get that. Don't get the same type call you have if you don't have a lot. . Yet
Glen Marrer glass over glass, my Titanium, my ceramic in that order.
Man too many to list for a favorite. If you're looking to put one in the vest for this year I wouldn't look past a daybreak aluminum. They can be a little tricky to run but man is it worth
I have just got a Hank's glass, two Lonzo's aluminum and crystal and the crystal mistress, I have not hunted them yet but they all sound great. My favorite that I have hunted is a Tony Reynolds Carolina assassin that he built for me in 2000, under the glass it says the first assassin of the century, if I had notched it for every bird I had killed with it, it would be saw dust by now!
Schaffer Blue Mahoe Crystal and Atomic 13 are my top two. Brad Roberts zebrawood bronzed glass over aluminum and a Halloran Metal Mouth are close behind for me though.

try putting pool cue chalk on your striker
I've been using rain chalk. Works really well
I can't tell you one favorite but I can tell you a few that I plan on having in my vest on opening day.
Doug Morgan Yellowheart Slate over Glass
Doug Morgan Padauk Glass over Glass
Andy Kaiser Redheart Bronze Glass over Glass
Andy Kaiser Curly Maple Ceramic over Glass
Sadler McGraw Cluck/Purr pot
Ol Yeller black ultimate series. :icon_thumright:
Impossible to list just one:
Day 1 in my vest this year.
Lyman Osage crystal over aluminum over slate 2 sider
Daybreak padauk ceramic
Lyman Wenge Aluminum over glass
Paul Platz Cherry slate over glass
Strikers:
Lyman green camo dymondwood
Lyman Purpleheart
Lyman Persimmon
Lyman Bocote
Box:
Halloran PH/cedar short box
Dan Whittenberg cedar over Sitka spruce paddle
Brad Roberts Pots are great, best I have run in a long time. I have 3 of his pots, all with Bronze glass over aluminum. The different woods make them all sound very different too, but they all have great playability, rollover, tone.......which I attribute to the bronze glass over aluminum combo. I really like Brad's strikers too, I have the Macassar Ebony, Snakewood, and Grenadillo.....hard to beat the Macassar Ebony, but the other 2 sound awesome too....lol
My pots are made with====Black Walnut(Middle of the road tone), Poplar,(deeper tone) Zebrawood(brightest tone). Not sure which one I favor, they all run great and are full of turkey. Crazy thing is I will probably sell these as I never use pots hunting....lol

There are really so many great pot call makers these days that it would be impossible for me to list a "favorite" call. However, my most recent pot by MAC has me very impressed.
I have over 150 pot calls and this still has to be my favorite, an older Lon Trice black acrylic with bronzed glass/glass playing surface. I named her Black Death some time ago.

1) Walnut green slate over aluminum by Mark Cornelius
2) Cody Spec 1 slate
3) Roger Parks Gobbler call
Not 100% certain what my favorite is at this precise moment but gun to my head I'm taking my Yingling slate or Lonnie Sneed hot hen if the weather is bone dry. Otherwise it's going to be Yingling ceramic, titanium, or the Sneed outlaw hen. Love them all and have many more that will see woods time this year but those are probably gonna be the first out of the vest.
I just started collecting pot calls this past year (2016). I have purchased about 30 pot calls from many mentioned here. Just recently, I purchased a slate call from Scott Hock on old gobbler. It is a Quartersawn white oak, slate over slate and to me it has to be one of the best sounding calls I have played. It is super easy to play, consistent and there are many turkeys to be found on the playing surface. I do believe Scott's calls will be heavily sought after once his name gets out. Do yourself a favor and get on his list.

David hollering cackling crystal
My favorite is the one the gobbler wants to answer.
Some days it's this one, other days it's that one.
That's why I'm an addict!
:newmascot:
Don't really have a favorite. Have things narrowed down to about 6 calls that I will use for the most part. A lot of birds have died to an old aluminator that I have had for years. Had an old primos power crystal that ruined many a gobblers day that I gave to a young man after his first turkey. Haven't found one that sounded as good since then. I believe it's more the operator than the call. That being said I think certain calls fit certain people better than others.

Hard to argue with that. I love mine. I have several of Jimmy's newer pot calls and keep going back to the Mad Hen I.
Really like Schaffer's blue mahoe, but there is something about my Dawkins stoned aluminum that I can't get enough of when playing it.

Probably be my Dawkins anodized aluminum. I put a light stone to it and removed the anodizing in a small spot. That thinges runs so easy. Another one I want be without is my Sneed Hot Hen.
David Halloran walnut/wenge slate
Houndstooth aluminum
Lonzo acrylic aluminum
Jimmy Schaffer Atomic 13
My favorite is the one at the moment that makes him gobble and reports to duty to meet his demise :-)
Sneed Hot Hen

I'm guessing you like aluminum. :TooFunny:
Played with my atomic 13 the other day. It's in the "backup" vest but could go either way. If I didn't hate anodized aluminum it'd probably be closer to the general rotation. Heck, I took half the anodized coating off of my Halloran aluminum just to make it tolerable.
the other day i pulled out my Lonnie Sneed Hot Hen and used my Black Locust from West Augusta (steve torman). Awesome combo! I highly suggest this striker with sneeds hot hen! Thanks West Augusta!

I'll second this combo! Steve's Black Locust hollow bell with the Sneed Hot Hen is a deadly combo. West Augusta makes some mighty fine turkey talking strikers.
Anything made by Lonzo or Lonnie Mabry

Gotta add my voice to the chorus on this combo. Not a big fan of slate calls in general but this is a deadly combo.
Guess I better let y'all know my personal favorite too. I love my oak ridge blue mahoe,Red heart and Zebrawood crystal so much I got a second just in case
