Title: Anyone upgrade their Avian X Strutter?
Post by: rkm456 on May 01, 2016, 09:04:30 PM
Okay, folks. I bagged my first bird today (Yay, me!) anyways, I'd like to use this guys real fan in my Avian X strutter. It occurs to me that just doing the old, Borax and wait will give me a fan that's much too thick to fit in the back of the decoy. Anyone have any helpful advice for me?

I did do a search, but came up empty.

I'm not sure how the AvianX strutter real fan exactly attaches, but I used this video to do one for my Primos B-Mobile. I'm sure you could adapt it to fit the AvianX.

Is there a slot in the back of the Avian strutter to slide the tail feathers?  If so, what's the width?  If you strip off all the meat and gristle on the tail feathers it should be as thin as the feather tips?  I usually add bondo to hold the tail feathers together.  You can layer the bondo thin so the fan fits inside the slit?

This seems like a really good option. I've currently got the fan spread out, being boraxed, but I think this might be the smartest option.
