After helping my brother get a bird during youth season and my dad get one during 1st season I finally got to get out and hunt myself this morning during Iowa's 3rd season. It was one of the best mornings I've ever had. Watched a flock for about and hour and the hens left and the toms broke. Had a strutter at 10 yards in the decoys but we were able to force ourselves to hold off as the 2 dominant birds worked towards us with another subordinate bird. Ended up with 4 toms at 10 yards right in the decoys and we were able to double, even after I missed the first shot and my gun jammed, got it reloaded and dropped mine. My buddies bird was huge, score over 70 and weighing 24 lbs. Mine was pretty nice, I posted it in the scores page. I have one more tag for this year for Iowa's 4th season which opens next Wednesday so I'll keep you guys posted if I can upgrade. :z-guntootsmiley:
Here is a picture. And I almost forgot to mention I got the whole thing on video!
