Title: Rail for Browning Gold Hunter
Post by: Buzzkiller on April 15, 2016, 04:11:07 PM
What picatinny rails fits a Browning Gold Hunter ?  I am having a hard time finding one. I asked Midway usa and they telling me a saddle mount is it. I want a low profile rail to mount a vortex venom or a Fast Fire 3

Sorry to be a buzzkiller(hehehe) but the short answer...there is none.  I looked far and wide for a pic rail for my maxus and bps which is the same base as for the gold.  Browning makes a propretary scope base that requires a two ring system.  You can put a fastfire on the Browning base but a slot has to be altered to fit and it will sit high on the base which is thick.

Browning also uses an odd star washer and impossible to find thread pattern on the screw that fits the receiver.  It is a terrible design...I tried having a custom rail made by EGW.  After months of trying to have one made and being blown off, I finally gave up and just used the Browning base and altered it.

Your best bet is to get a scope, red dot that uses two mounting points or alter the base and deal with a poor cheek weld.  Good luck

Thanks for the info. guess I'll try a gunsmith or speedbead mount and if that doesn't work put it on another gun.

My uncle has a Browning Gold Hunter and it was not factory drilled and tapped.  Had Rob Roberts drill and tap it and install a base on it.  He uses the godagrip cheek pad and the setup works well for him.
