Post by: DirtNap647 on April 15, 2016, 07:36:52 AM
thought maybe someone might have had this happen or know how to fix this issue...we have a Mossberg 835 safety works as should but when you fire a round the safety goes back to non-fire position. makes tough for follow up shots. any help would be appreciated...?

Take it to a gun smith.  Now I am in law enforcement and was always a mossberg fan.  We switch to 870's and this is one of the reasons why we switched.  What happens is that over time with alot of shots (don't know the exact part name) things wear and break.  Due to the recoil the safety slams back.  This happened to one of our patrol shotguns and we sent it to a gunsmith.  Note:  this is rare and most will never experience this in their lifetime but it can happen.

I think it should be an easy and inexpensive fix, even if you have a gunsmith do it.

The parts to replace the safety are not expensive.

Call Mossberg to verify but if I remember correctly, they will fix the safety for free. It just costs thw shipping of the action.

I've got one that does that when the action is cycled.
