I've not played the Dawkins but that one seems to be a favorite.  Of the aluminum calls that I have.  These are the top ones.  All sound great but different.

Schaffer Atomic 13
Lonzo Acrylic Aluminum
Hanks Maple Aluminum
Mabry Aluminum

Halloran anodized
Yingling blasted/sanded

While I've not used several of the others posted above, I've got a Yingling aluminum and my Halloran should be here within the next couple days. Mikes stuff has enough rasp to it that I'd bet you could pull a poult off a hen if you scatter a flock in the fall. Im sure that many of the calls listed above are great calls but there's something about the way the Yingling stuff sounds to me. Just has that sound I'm looking for and they are extremely easy runners. Heck, had my nephew playing with one a couple weeks ago. He'd never picked one up before but had it going and sounding good in less than 10 minutes. It was pretty cool.

My best aluminum by far, Bill Lyman Wenge aluminum. I personally don't care for anodized surfaces in aluminum pot calls. Bill builds a great one, that is not anodized.Again that's just me...

Not to steer you away from something you have your mind set on but I would look at Titanium as it "in my ear" sounds better and also it requires less conditioning and doesn't foul up your striker as much as Aluminum in my opinion , not speaking to anodized at least.

Dawkins stoned aluminum in a plastic pot and Paul platz cherry. I also have a stoned aluminum in black acrylic pot coming from lon trice. That stoned aluminum is awsome. Grips good with very little to no  slip.

Calls that have been mentioned are great.  I would like to add Adam Proutys padauk and yellowheart laminate slightly bead blasted aluminum to the mix.   It is so close to Pauls cherry aluminum and I love the slightly bead blasted stuff.  Scoot

I have the same call.  It will be in my vest for sure. I'm waiting on a Dawkins aluminum and would like to get a Titanium call. I'm not sure if either will be able to beat this call, but it will be fun finding out!

Dawkins and Trice are the best aluminums I've run. Lonnie Mabry makes a fine sounding aluminum pot as well.

I have a few good aluminum pots but keep going back to this one.......It's an absolute steal for $35

Silver Fox by Al Holbert

There is a basic pot call demonstration video on this link but if you watch the whole thing it works as a pretty good sound file to get an idea how it runs.

His Silver Thunder Extreme is a good one as well. You can purr on the back of that pot.

Silver Thunder Extreme is one of my favorites also. I also like Spring Allure Calls by Ricky Padgett. He makes a good sounding aluminum call. Don't rule out Gary's aluminum calls from Magnolia Calls. He made me a double side that will run with the best in my opinion. Lots of choices from great call makers.

I LOVE my trice tumbled, it's the best sounding call in my Arsenal to my ears. Highly recommended. Only thing I don't like is the tumbled finish will not last, same with the Dawkins stoned...they have to be conditioned which is fine, but it's not a surface that will be just like it was new. That said it still sounds awesome, just appears to fowl up the striker tip more

I have a Yingling aluminum in zebrawood that I wouldn't trade for anything. Mike's a great guy to do business with and a hell of a call builder.

All the calls mentioned will put birds in the back of the truck...I really took a great liking to the Al Hobert Silver Thunder Extreme this season...most versatile pot call I've ever used....and the toms like it as well :newmascot:

I own both the Dawkins Stoned Aluminum in plastic pot and the Lonzo Tumbled Aluminum in black acrylic. They are both neck and neck for my favorite, both sound very similar and both are great. My other favorite is my Tim Sandford green anodized aluminum in a spalted black oak pot, I've rubbed the anodized off of one section and get two different sounds in one pot and runs as easy as any anodized I've owned...
