4
Two for turkeys
Two for coyotes or snakes
3 in the gun............ 3 in the pocket.
Not sure why so many. Just always did it that way.
3 or 4 Turkey loads, and one high base 2&3/4 " #4 for woodchucks
3 for in the gun and 3 in reserve. Do I ever intend to use that many? No. But 3 extra shells don't weight that much and you never know. Years back I hit a bird with my first shot but he got back up and pitched off the brow of a ridge. I shot my other 2 in the gun but missed (hurried the shots and just plain messed up). Reloaded and went searching for him and finally jumped him from under a little hemlock a few hundreds yards away. Hurried my shot again and missed the first but finally killed him the second. Bad shooting yes, but I was glad I had enough ammo and always make sure I carry enough yet today

3 turkey loads and 2 low brass 8's for snakes.
5... That's what the vest holds, I think? 3 for the gun, & 2 for the *#&%! walk back to the truck! :angry9:
Everybody must find what work for them, years ago I would load 6 shells in my mossberg, and keep a #4 buck in my pocket for yotes, and a couple #6 express loads for backup. By the end of the day that shotgun felt like a tank! So I only load two now, and I'm kind nervous about having buckshot in my possession, cause the GW would stiff me on that one. And I still carry a few game loads, I'd say 5 total, but I do keep a box of target loads in the blazer in case!
I carry 5-6. Depending on what side of the base I hunt on it's either one bird a day or 3 birds a day. We can't shoot pigs or coyotes so I figure if I can't kill a turkey in 6 shots I might as well give it up.
Three.
3 shells in the gun
Sounds like a lot but I carry 8. Three are in my pocket "for the gun" and 5 in my pack in reserve.

My vest holds 5. Think the Mossberg held 5-6 so I'd load it up and have one or 2 extra for some reason. The answer to the question is 7. I carry 7.
I keep my mag full in whatever gun I am toting and always have 5 in my vest. Another just always done it that way.

6-8, like to have extras already in my vest.

Used to carry 3 for the gun. After an encounter with a group of pigs and running out of shells, I carry 3-4 extra. Never want to miss an opportunity for Bacon

That's why you pack a 10mm in your vest!
I carry a small shotshell pouch with (5)12ga. and (5)20ga. shells in it.
Always in my bag and ready, no matter which gun I'm carrying that day.

Tube full of turkey loads (4-5 depending on which gun). I always carry another 10-12 game loads just in case (I shoot a 20ga). I hunt some pretty rugged river bluffs & cell phone reception is iffy... Also grew up with the fire 3 shots if you need help idea... I carry food, a bottle of water & a means of starting a fire. Old boy scout, be prepared. ;)

3 in, 3 out
I carry 8. 3 in the gun and then I have a full box of Heavy weight/Hevi shot in my back pack. I always carry way too much crap in my pack!

No one ever says "I wish I had only brought 3 shells instead of 6-8"! I assure you that every year there are people out there saying "why did I only bring 3 shells"! With all the calls, decoys, clippers, thermo cell, binos, bug spray, range finder, water, food, camera, gps, seats, etc.. that people carry, 3 or 4 extra shells are an easy to carry peace of mind. Never gonna need em you say? I hope you don't, but ya never really know!
5...three in the gun, two in the vest for emergencies or in case I forget to load my gun.
7. Three in the gun, 4 in the vest.
Usually 5-6. Always gotta have a couple extra in the vest...just in case :smiley-char092:
6 shells for me. 3 in the gun 2 in the vest :fud: :OGani: My math isn't the best :funnyturkey: usually 5
10.....5 turkey shells
5 low brass birdshot for snakes or whatever
Think my vest hold 10...I always load it up and carry three for the gun, so 13...Ever have that dream when you run out of ammo and the object of your desires is standing right there in front of you? I have that one often... :help:
Yeah 3 in and at least 3 out
