Title: 20ga loads
Post by: jpen on March 08, 2016, 07:02:17 PM
I have a H&R single shot 20ga that I want to hunt with this year. It has a mod. choke. I have tried the Remington nitro #5 shot and they are good to 25 yards. I am trying to find a load that will get me to 30 or 35 yards. I like to shoot them close but would like a buffer. What loads should I try to get to try?

Federal Heviweight 3-1.5-7's.
Best production shell available on the market.

Federal heavyweight 6's or 7's and call it a day.

I just tested Heavyweight 7s out of a 20g youth H&R topper with a sumtoy choke. It put 187 hits in a ten inch circle at 40 yards. It's as good or better than my 870 3 1/2" supermag.
