Nice grab! Lucky dog!
I love my LV with #4 screw-in LV mp.
I am a beginner with the trumpet, this removes any excuses...dang.
Nice grab!!!!
CONGRATS !!
That's a fine trumpet..... :newmascot:
Sounds like this ought to be a fine trumpet, look forward to messing around with it. I learned that I live about an hour from Billy's shop, so I would like to stop by and see if adding another mouth piece might be a good idea.
does it light up
Here's my Buice Lignum Vitae set. The wood tends to darken with age.

Beauties!
Sent from the Strut Zone
Yeah, the LV is a beautiful wood. I build acoustic guitars so I have used lots of beautiful woods, but never touched LV.
That is a beautiful set!
Congrats on a great trumpet! You got a good one for sure!
A set of fine calls, Rickey.....
I just looked up the Janka Hardness of Lignum Vitae, on my chart there is no wood harder. I have built with some woods that were rough on tools, this stuff must be murder.

Yeah, I saw that too, pretty funny.
Loosely translated Lignum Vitae means " wood of life"
My Buice LV calls have been the "wood of death" for more than a few Longbeards. Good thing you saw this before I did..
Great calls. Billy takes pride in finding true LV, which according to him is scarce anymore. Definitely a hard wood that eats up tools. It has great tonal quality.

Yes, I read about an Argentine LV, it is still very hard, but not like the "real" LV. Glad to find this one, should be a lifer....if I can figure out how to play it....

Patience, practice, and less air is more, the call you are getting will help with the learning curve as well.
Greg,
There was a mix up on the wood on my part. I sent you a pm. The wood is English Oak made Dec 2014 # 604. It's a light colored wood. And has a no 5 mouthpiece. I hope you didn't send the money order yet. Please advise what you would like me to do.
Thanks
Mike

Greg,
THANK YOU !!
Mike
Hey Mike, I know this trumpet would still be outstanding, but I have my mind made up on a certain group of woods. Plus I live an hour away from Billy, so I am going to try and get by his shop for a look-see.
