Title: Tru glo 176X Choke for Super x2.
Post by: Lucky Clucker on February 26, 2016, 09:25:36 PM
I just got a tru glo choke for my SX2. I have not shot it yet, and would like to shoot hevi shot 7, and the longbeard 5 shot in it, anyone have these chokes and have a good load that shoots in it? It is a .665 constriction.

The Truglo 170 series of chokes is based upon the original Mark Bansner choke design. It has a straight conical/parallel interior, with ports. It's rated for all lead and tungsten based shot. It was designed primarily for #6 lead shot but the #5 shot shells, including WLB should do okay.

The #7 Hevi-13 shells and the #5 WLB shells are quite different, not only in the size of the shot but in the way they are manufactured and the way they perform.

While it is rated for tungsten shot like the Hevi-13s, it will do better with the #6 shot than with the #7 shot. Since "better" is a relative term, the only way you'll really know how well it does in your particular gun is to spend some time at the range with it.

If the 176 does not give you the results you're looking for with the #7 Hevi-13s, I'd recommend the Truglo SSX (TG156X) http://allaboutshooting.com/products/ssx-12-gauge-invector for your SX2.

Thanks,
Clark
