Title: What wood for soft calling?
Post by: mozer67 on February 26, 2016, 06:50:13 PM
What type of wood would be a good choice for soft purrs and tree yelps on a slate surface? I'd kind of like to find one with a flared tip. Thanks!

Cedar or hickory for me. I also have a holly that can whisper quiet nicely.

dogwood...when you can find someone who has some big enough to make a striker...really good subtle purrs...

For the soft stuff, I prefer Butternut or Sycamore.
