i figure this could be a decent conversation starter. i know some people like him but i cant stand michael waddell he comes off as a money hungry and self centered to me.
All of them on wildgame nation.
Any Will Primos hunting.
Bill Busbice "Big Bill" is the most annoying.
I cant stand the Wildgame guy that looks like a Kiss band member with the facepaint he wears and then turns around around screams when he kills a turkey..
Find most of them annoying. Hallowed ground and meat eater are my two favorites. Wild game nation is definitely bottom of the barrel. Some intellectual giants in that group. Also like brothers of the bow but that hasn't aired in forever. Anymore if you rely on skill and knowledge to succeed you are pretty well out of a job in the TV hunting industry. They want to plug their products and want everyone to think they have to have them to be successful. Therefore the incompetent make their way to the front. It's sad.
95% of them turn my stomach.

Yep the wild game guys
The ones that at times don't kill a bird outright, then hold it up for the camera and talk about the hunt for five minutes while it hangs there looking around. Things don't always go the way we'd like, but I was brought up to follow through with what I started as quickly and humanely as possible.

Most of them are annoying especially them Wild Game guys...Come on Bill give up the beard dye your probably 60 or damn close...I actually do like the Primos and Mossy Oak guys...but its all about plugging product now, no real hunting info...and trying to outdo each others shows...bigger racks,,longer beards,,higher trucks....and the face painting is just totally out of control...
Redneck Hollywood!
? Is who do I find least annoying
Tiffany I just turn the volume down. Lol
Any show that has the "side of the face" interview WTH... Chris Bracket and that show with the loud mouth guys,it's probably Wild game nation. Big Bill is what they call him. :TrainWreck1:

Pretty much most all of them except for the primos crew and mossy oak guys. Can't understand why anybody would find them annoying. They seem like they truly enjoy what they do and primos videos taught me alot about turkey hunting. Guess I hate waddell and Jim shokey the most. But if I had the places to hunt these guys do I'd tag out every year too.

How does this thread fit into Old Gobblers sticky "1 Rule"?
I can handle Primos but the rest are just plan rediculous.
most all of them. cant stand bill off wild game nation.
The early videos of Primos "The Truth" series on VHS...Those videos got me pumped and if u listened and watched carefully you actually learned things "Called too much and called too loud!"..they seemed the closest to the real deal and for the most part their TV shows have carried on that same real feel. Mossy Oak's Hunting the country was one of the first outdoor shows carried here on LI and I still enjoy they way they portray the outdoor lifestyle..What I'm saying is I guess a Mississippi spring turkey hunt with Will and Ronnie would be dream trip for sure... so I guess those guys are doing their job!
They are all boarder line absurd when it comes to pushing their products. I don't know how these guys even hunt with all the junk and devices hanging off of them.. I can't remember the name, but there is one guy in particular on the outdoor channel that is way bad..
Kip Campbell - Red Arrow isn't that bad. I like watching that show, dude is pretty funny.
Razor Dobbs and Chris Brackett.
Tie - Brackett -n- Busbice

I only like Primos and Mossy Oak turkey hunting shows, cant watch anybody deer hunt anymore on tv.
I like the Mossy oak Gamekeepers show on Land Management
I mostly watch Traditional bowhunting videos on Youtube.
Eddie Salter is about the only one I actually do care to watch, I've spoken to him enough in real life to have some rapport and know who/what he is.
The whole concept pretty much sucks, a show is about 10 minutes of hunting related material and 20 minutes of advertising, whether produced ads or live reads/plugs during the "show."
The business model sucks too, they have to produce a show, line up all the sponsors, get review and approval from the network, and buy time from Outdoor, Sportsman, Pursuit, etc. to show it. That is why a show looks like one big infomercial and commercial combined in one. The network has its own checklist of things they believe a show needs, like editing in some hard rock music at lower volume to make it sensational.
Michael Waddell is such a buddy stabbing, adultering piece of fecal material I have a hard time tolerating him or his Realtree buddies. If you don't know about it, he is on his third wife, and this one is Christy Womack. She is the former wife of his hunting buddy and cameraman. He was last married to Melissa Snipes of Columbus, GA, whom is related to the attorneys at Snipes & Snipes. I hope they took him for a good lick in that divorce.
I cannot get over how the rednecks line up at the NWTF show in Nashville to buy that cheesie Bone Collector crap and to get pictures with him. I'd rather pay to stand in line to see a dentist than him.
The Busbice/Wildgame show personalities and material are pretty bad too. Do they make and sell anything that is not a piece of crap?
I can't stand Uncle Ted ... Wild Game and Brackett are a close second though..
Sounds like a lot of what I hear down to the store, a general dislike to this part of the industry. I remember a survey out there about how you make buying decisions on your outdoor hunting products and 1st was from friends/family, 2nd was from sites like this.... dead last yup "Outdoor Show Host".
Not to get off topic but...I get a lot of "So what do you use?" questions down at the store and I am only loyal to what works for me, don't care the brand who made it but will tell customer who this product was made by, and of course I could never use all the equipment out there. Won't say that I am not brand loyal but that is by the specific product we are talking about at the time. I am not sponsored by anyone so as to have to tell you that all of the products "we" produce are the best, I have the unique opportunity to use and advise products based on my experiences. We all have that list of products we spent our hard earned dollars on and didn't live up to it's hype...
and by the way I do like the old VHS Primos Truth About Turkey Hunting Series.

this is spot on, the lack of respect for the game animals on most of these shows is bad
The shows are counterfeit because they go back and edit in so much, like conversations about an approaching bird, and they add a lot more calling, often showing them with the plastic commodity they are trying to sell. The way turkey hunting shows are put together will all the profuse calling often goes against everything taught in turkey hunting.
I also don't like all the running with loaded shotguns, that goes against good gun safety. I saw a friend do something stupid 3-4 years ago on a dove field, running after a downed bird with a loaded shotgun. He did not turn off the safety, he kept his finger on the safety, he tripped and fell forward and fired the gun with a long shot string across the ground. It scared the crap out of some shooters just down range from him, and he chastised himself pretty badly for it because he knew at his age a man should not do commit such foolishness.
LOL! I turn off shows that annoy me, and sometimes I don't even look to see the show's name. And yes, I agree, two such shows had Brackett or Busbice. I wasn't sure if those shows were spoofs, or not. At least with Jimmy Big Time, I knew what I was getting. ;)
In my opinion the shows have gotten so bad, so unrealistic that I have pretty much quit watching them....like Turkey Reaping videos for example.
I blame the shows for attracting the wrong type of people to hunting...I think the tv shows have really ruined deer hunting especially...attracting big money people and outfitters leasing up much of the ground that hard working people at one time had a chance to hunt.
I am fortunate that I own land to hunt so I am not personally greatly affected by this but I know many people it has affected.

I'm pretty much annoyed with all hunting videos. I have not watched a ton, however, I have watched enough. Each time I watch I am hoping for a learning experience. So far all I have learned is which EXTREME equipment I should buy.
Please don't get me wrong. I am all for the economics. I am happy for people who can make a lot of money. I think product placement in videos is a great way of advertising but I think it has gone too far. A video can be both a commercial and a learning tool of value. I would love to watch a video that explains why a hunter is doing what they are doing. Instead we get "Look at me decoy driving him nuts. That old boy decoy is the bomb! And my super duper choke took its head clean off." Not one mention of why they setup where they did. Not one mention of why they chose the sounds they chose and the amount they played them... Just Gobble, cut to bird coming, cut to bird shot, praise product, then next scene starts this same cycle.
Want evidence to validate? Look at the questions new hunters are asking on forums. What choke? What decoy? What call? What gun? What vest? What camo? What blind? Etc. I have no problem with any of those product. My point is... I rarely see the question "How do I know if that gobbler wants to hear me call a lot or a little?" "How can I use the terrain to may advantage?" or anything along those lines. In my mind the reason for this is the hunters first source of information, a video. From there they gain the perspective of a product placed in their brain and necessity.
I have been coyote calling in NY since 1997. I have witnessed this same thing in that sport. It drives me crazy that I have to compete with people educating those fast learning critters because they were misinformed by their first exposure... a video.
It's got to be Driven With Pat And Nicole Reeves just listening to those to talk kills me. It's like pulling teeth for me.
I don't watch any of them, haven't in many years but when I did ALL of them were annoying. I agree with the original poster though, that guy takes the cake for most annoying.
Willie Robertson from Buck Commander. Something about the guy. Also any show with a hip hop type theme song with grown men talking and acting like they are 20.

Yes. And the commercials portray something contrary of most hunters. The EXTREME mentality. Makes us look like we lust for killing and blood. It leaves me with distaste when hunting is compared to war "doing battle". I cant speak for everyone... but I have never feared for my life from a turkey or met any animal that shoots back.
Most recently I watched some stuff that really got to me. I apologize for my extra ranty comments on this post.

Would be easier to have asked who CAN you watch and not vomit.........
I can watch most of the Primos crew, Eddie Salter and David Blanton.
I'm a Primos guy. Have been for years. What kind of vest do I have? Primos. What's on my deer calls? Primos. My bow you ask? Bear Truth II that was designed for the Primos crew when they shot Bear archery equipment. Did I think it would make me a better hunter? Nope. Just liked the equipment they had. Slacked off quite a bit over the years. Anymore I'd almost rather take the dogs out, go fishing with my oldest girl, play with the young one, etc. I won't turn a Primos show off nor will I turn away meat eater. Love watching McMillan as well. Would love to go hunt with the man just once. Wouldn't care if a killed a thing. He just seems like a real funny guy to hang around. Can't stand the real tree gang with exception of a couple. Can't handle Roger "Gaglin." The Buck Demander team is right up there with these fellas. Just a lot of guys with lots of money. Gimme a crack at the land they hunt. Just one. I could be an overnight superstar too.
MY favorite hunting videos are from Dave Owens,Shane Simpson,Scott Ellis,And avianX !!!!IF not for avian i probably wouldn't have direct.
There are others but my least favorite is the draft dodger, Nugent.
The Busbice clan hands down for me.
I have that Roku box that plugs in my TV so I watch alot of the lesser known shows and they seem a lot better with out all the advertisements. It also has You tube which I probably watch more than anything. There are several guys on this site that put up some real enjoyable videos, both filmed and solo hunts.
Dave Owen's videos are on a whole different level than what you see on tv and Scott Ellis does a jam up job a as well.
Michael Waddell would be at the top of my list. Can't stand the "big nasty freak daddy rabbit " junk. He would be more bearable if he talked normal. But his calls are still junk.
I'm with most everyone else, can't stand Wildgame guys.
I don't like the Busbice gang either but have to give them props for one thing...evidently, whatever they are doing is working for them. They have about 20,000 acres under high fence near Olla LA. that was paid for by that junk they market and yes..it's junk.
I guess I can add like everyone else. No flextone/bone collector/duck-buck commander-dynasty. It drives me up the wall.
I used to love watching phill Robertsons duck men series VHS. I grew up on those and it used to be duck hunting. Not any more.
Now, I watch Dave owens you tube videos, primos turkey, and since it's what I love and is the most comparable, echo timber hunting(Freddy king on the you tube)

Sure do hate some of these dumb names they come up with. I have never, nor will I ever kill a "Thunder Chicken". I get posts back to me about "nice thunder chicken" and it just makes me want to rant, I'll reply with "Sorry I don't shoot chickens, but he is a great longbeard" I did post a good one back before to a buddy who uses this term way too often.

No, she has that Minnesota tinge and it would take speech therapy to work that out. But It can be done, as Charlize Theron and others in Hollywood have shown.
Now, if she did not dye that hair blonde and wear an accessory to make the balcony appear very crowded, she would not be the ostensible eye candy she purports to be. I've seen her in person. She is getting a little thick in her older age as well.
All of them. But the Wadell gang makes me cringe.

Jim
I don't know any of those guys you all are talking about. I grew up watching hunting shows as I didn't have anyone to take me hunting and it really screwed me up. Once I was old enough to get out there and really started to learn to hunt, I realized what a load of crap all the stuff they were doing was. I learned I didn't need the fanciest camo clothes, blinds etc... to be successful and success shouldn't always mean a filled tag. I also don't like the lack of respect (my opinion) for the animal and meat once the animal is taken. You never hear about how its going to be consumed just how big the rack is or whatever. That being said I did really like meat eater and the Randy Number (sp?) shows. I pretty much quit watching hunting shows all together. I train pointing dogs and if something is on that involves upland game with dogs I try and watch but most of that is atrocious, the only one that was decent was American Gundog. The one that drove me the craziest was pig man! Hated that show!
Without a doubt the Busbice gang. And please don't give them or their products credit , as someone pointed out , Bill's money was made before they started doing shows and making crap gimmick products and the boys are playing with daddy's money. Wont watch the shows but most importantly, won't but any of their products and have actually sent emails to sponsors of theirs saying I don't like them and will quit buying their products if the continue to sponsor. Doesn't make them quit sponsoring but makes me feel better to rant. Kinda like now... that was refreshing , plus saw my first strutter of the year today ;D

Most of their products use to be good, that's not the case these days.
Their older truth videos are really good, the Drury brothers made some good turkey instructional videos.

This is my only concern, as well. I don't watch many of these shows but, as a hunter, I sometimes find myself embarrassed by the way some of them act. We will be mighty lucky if hunting in the U.S. is still legal in another generation. Then again, there are a few who portray a very positive image of hunters and hunting.
I take them all with a grain of salt and for what its worth. Its entertainment. I don't like all TV shows, so I chose to watch some and not others.
Ones that really get under my skin are Chad Belding and Chris Brackett. That whole rock star hunting image gets to me.
Now my wife cringes every time she sees Tom Miranda on TV. His fake enthusiasm drives her nuts, and she's convinced he'd talk about how grand his 1.5 year old spike is.
My favorites lately have been King of Spring, and Jim Shockey. Jim's shows to me are absolutely outstanding and show as much about local culture and some of the craziest places and animals on earth as they do about the kill. I'd love to walk in that man's shoes for a year.
My wife and I acutally got into King of the Spring the 1st year it came out. We really liked the competitions.

I haven't owned a TV in over a 16 months, but most are pretty bad.
I have to start by saying if I never had to listen to Eddie Salter owl hoot after a turkey kill ever again, I'd pay a good sum of money. I agree very little of the hunting shows are educational. I know they push a lot of products, but that is why I like Zink. In the waterfowl shows they'll discuss the spread, wind direction, how they limit casting shadows, what they saw scouting, etc. They also get birds in tight for good camera work and will pass some up, so it's not always about killing every thing that comes in. Maybe I bought into something, but I can respect some of the message they're sending. But then again I must not be too big of a sucker since I've never purchased anything of theirs except one call. Steven Rinella on meat eater is good like some have said. Some of the Eastman shows on large public tracts are cool, takes 2 years to air one episode on the one I remember. Brad Ferris seems like a genuine guy, liked troy ruiz too.
Then you get guys like bracket who shoot one deer and then air it over and over again. I only saw him on TV during one season, but it was always the same deer. He did air one other show about land management to get big bugs, and what did he reference.....ding ding the one deer everyone saw killed every week for over a month. Its turning into a pretty sad industry. I can't believe they sucker people in with some of the crap they put out. waddells calls sound terrible, and who comes up with crap like the squealin hen? Just crazy people buy some of this junk.
They all annoy me, thus I don't watch any. Has been 3-4 years, Mike
I don't mind some of the cutting up and joking footage, because that's part of what being in camp is all about - having fun with your friends. But I wish the shows would be a little more "educational". Instead of just showing them walking around listening for birds and then a few minutes of the kill footage, I would rather they show the bird working (or not working) in and show what worked/didn't work. I still have a lot to learn and don't get a chance to hunt with anybody that has good turkey knowledge/skills.
I like the kill shot just like anyone else, but show me more than walk around, hear one, yelp, yelp, yelp, and 30 seconds later there is a bird flopping on the ground. Give me more between point A and point B.
Well after watching Tom Maranda shoot a Bull Moose in the rear end yesterday moring on tv, I'd say Tom Maranda. He didn't rush the shot, looked as if he meant to shoot the Moose in the rear end with an arrow. He then clenched his fist and did the fist pump and was happy LOL!!
I'm still waiting to be working a bird, and as he begins his final approach, Death Metal music starts playing in the background. I've yet to have that happen, and I want to know where these guys are hunting that they can enjoy that experience. If I could see Metallica live in the woods, it would be a WIN-WIN situation...
I miss the old original "American Sportsman" show that used to be on tv when I was a kid. I don't really watch any hunting shows anymore, most of them are pretty much infomercials punctuated by the obligatory fist pump. I will say Shockey's show has some great camera work and gives you a sense of adventure in beautiful wild places.
I don't mind watching Ainsley Beeman on Ducks Unlimited TV. But I prefer just to look at her and not listen.

Cheesy blonde bow hunter chick, can't stand her or her nasle tone husband.
Western Hunter, Randy Newberg's On Your Own and Steve Renella's Meateater are classy shows, on Public Land most always. Newberg And Western Hunter are always on Public Land.

It would be a lot easier to list the shows/hosts that don't make me want to shove ice picks in my ears and follow it up with a shot of bleach to the eyes.
Meat Eater
Benny Spies
Ron Schara (regional)
Tred Barta
Les Johnson
Fred Eichler
I thought the Pigman was a nut before the wreck. He's much worse afterwards, and seems to be going for a redneck pirate persona.

Oh yeah, old freak nasty himself Michael Waddell, Jackie bushman, all the guys with wild game innovations, lee and Tiffany, t bone from bone collector, that guy spook from spook nation, tom Miranda, Ralph and Vickie, the guy from long range pursuit, roger raglin, the list could go on and on! The only shows I watch are meat eater and fresh tracks, real guys really hunting and showing a true appreciation for wildlife, wild lands and conservation.

The wild game bunch tops the list and following close behind in 2nd is all the rest of them. I haven't watched the outdoor channel in quite some time.
Too much product pushing and smoking and dirt napping for me.

Can't stand to watch anymore. Some were so bad they were kinda funny, for a little while.
There was one guy I think first name was Wayne and can't remember name of show. Anyway he thought he was the only guy that knew how to hunt or shoot.
Any host that fills his face with paint trying to look like a warrior. Annoys that crap out of me.

Agree 100%. Only two guys I respect on TV.
Come to think of it, the shows done in Africa are better quality shows, not just a big plug, and not filled with the hard rock music edited in. There is more to be learned from them that the "boy howdy" shows recorded in the US with the product plugger hosts.
I find them all annoying. They make it look so easy that everyone thinks they can just buy a shotgun and walk in the woods and kill one.lol They should be forced to put disclaimers stating that they are hunting on private land and that there are feeders just out of camera view that the birds are headed to anyway. I get a kick out of the so called show pro's that come to town to hunt public land and strut There stuff and get skunked and then head to private land to film. Yea easy huh LOL

Most of the African hunts are in a fence.

Yes, and most nat'l parks that have wildlife in them in Africa are fenced in too. That is a result of long term wars, droughts, poaching, and the problems created for private landowners near parks and preserves. Landowners near Yellowstone, Tetons, etc. have similar problems and conflicts with the govt. But they are fences that evade the comprehension of most Americans because they are so far away and so long. The expanses within the fences are huge, and the animals within them are still wild, even though they are dynamically managed, bought and sold to manage and balance herds and deal with droughts, and shipped on cattle trucks.
People can sneer at animals behind a fence on 5,000-10,000 acres in TX, I certainly did and don't really want that experience, but I've seen up close that the critters on that much land are wild and hard to stalk. They still smell, see, and hear well.

"Spook" Spann. That guy is a joke. He's known here in Kansas as a poacher. I talked to a game warden here about him at the time of the article linked below. He said 'ol Spook had been on the radar for quite some time.

Wild game guys for me. Can't tell you how many times I've seen those jack asses wound game and be all happy about it...The father and the youngest son are absolute morons!
Waddell gets tiresome, as others have said and Jon and Gina...My god what a couple of ego maniacs!
The list is pretty long...How about Fred Eichler? The screamer...Man he annoys me!
I do like Sporting Chef. That guy has a great sense of humor and doesn't seem to take himself very seriously.
Of course Randy Newman and Steve Rinella. Great hosts. I like Shockey also.
The guy that nobody but me seems to like is Jimmy Big Time. I love the way he spoofs all the shows that make the hosts out to be something they're not. Funny stuff!

I find the pigman somewhat interesting. No I don't consider him a hunter and a think his ego is way out of wack. It's kinda like me watching nascar on a super speedway. I don't care about it at all but I am just watching and waiting for the massive pile up. Can't really expand it but he is a Train wreck waiting to happen
He's lucky to be alive after that wreck a year or so ago.

You did not mention # 1 himself....MR. Wayne Pearson...this guy absolutely blows my mind when he explains how it should have been done, how is way is the perfect only way, most proud, professor of everything I have ever seen. Haven't seen his show in long time..may not be on now...which is fine with many. He has to be at top of my list.

Yeah, Jimmy Big Time! The episode where they were trying to cancel his show was hilarious! And the one where he was running from the warden...How anybody could think that wasn't funny is beyond me...
Cant stand the busbices! I see they are probably the winner on this thread but i have to wonder how many of you that cant stand them actually do support them? They have their hands on so many products it really isnt funny.
How many of these companys products do you guys that dont like the busbices own?
AVIAN
Ameristep
Barnett
Bloodsport
Evolved
Flextone
Halo
Plano
No limit
Tenzing
Wildgame
ZINK
And there will be more because as much as people dont like them they also do not pay attention to what products the idiot get money from.

Well I cant stand them and will NOT watch them for a second...But....I am not going to go around researching who all sponsors them before I buy something that's a good product. Take Tenzing for instance, I had no idea they were tied to them in any way but I don't care. They make such an amazing back pack that if I lost mine tomorrow I would go buy another...I wouldn't care if they sponsored Obama. Now as far as the crap they make...they can keep it. And I have no use for any of the cheap Flextone junk they promote either.

Luckily from this list I only own a few Plano tackle boxes... and way before Plano Synergy was in place. (can't see that I would be buying anything from any of these companies in the near future). It's just like most things we as consumers have "no" say in where a company spends there advertising dollars... And would have a hard time guessing where the dollars I do spend on my hunting gear goes, or who these companies support through their advertising.
I have been fooled early on in my turkey hunting years by a few of these "pitch" artists, but have learned my lesson. I can honestly say I have not purchased anything these "Outdoor Show" hosts try to sell you in a very long time.

I like trying different stuff I would still like it even w/o all the mainstream marketing. I am like a kid when I get my catalogs in the mail...as The Boss Hen rolls her eyes.

oh so you wont use the crap they make? None of those companies listed sponsor the busbices. All of those companies are OWNED by plano-synergy and guess who is one of the big dogs of plano-synergy. Ryan Busbice, so you in fact do use and praise the "CRAP" they make! This only points out my whole point. Most people do not know enough of the companies that are tied together to put those idiots out of buisness. Which i really do not think at this point is even a chance of happening because they are just to big. People dont like them and how they make hunting look to outsiders. I am just as guilty of it. I bought a tenzing pack before i knew they was tied. I wont buy another. I needed a small ground blind that was packable. Well i bout an ameristep tom taker2. I knew they were tied but it was the only choice i had for a small hub blind. I also own plano tackle boxes.
From the above list...a Plano tackle box that I bought 20 years ago. Don't use ANY of the other stuff. Don't even know what Evolved,Halo and No Limit are. Barnett is xbow junk,so that's out in my world.
