I just picked up a rem. 1100 20 gauge 21 inch barrel. Was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on chokes and load combos? Thanks

Was in the same boat last year when I picked up a 11-87 with a 24" barrel a week before the season opened and got on here and asked for help. I'm sure you will hear this a lot but it's for a reason , Federal HW #7 is going to be the shell of choice . Start looking now as they can be difficult to find ( seasonal run) and it just gets worse the closer you get to the season. Many choke options but I went with a Carlson's .575 and got good results . Good numbers in the 10 at 40 and not too rifle like closer in. All that being said , try lots of shell and choke options to see what suits you and your gun best as that is all the fun of it but this should give you a good starting point. Is this gun a 2-3/4 shell only or 3"? I know my 1100 12ga is 2-3/4 and I was not sure about the 20.
If it's 2-3/4 only it's going to take more work and will probably limit you to say 35 yards, which in reality will kill 75% of the birds you come in contact with.
I would look seriously at the SSX .550 and IC .555. Those two chokes tend to be a little tighter than the others, which you may need if you have to go with 2-3/4. Good luck!
My son shoots an 1100 LT 20. It only shoots 2 3/4. The HW 7's with a Remington Super Full choke is deadly.
